Instead of ground chuck, I grind my own using Australian Ribeye ($3.84lb.) and Australian Brisket ($2.29lb.) When I'm doing burgers, I'll throw some short ribs into the mix at about $3.00 per lb. These are WHOLESALE prices and I'm buying about 80 kilos of each per week, between meatballs, Bolognese & Philly cheese steak. Australia & New Zealand produce some fine beef. I had an unaged Australian Wagyu Ribeye done on the grill, about two inches thick and then sliced, that was one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. That piece went for $30 a pound. |
Started in 2013 with the rise in fuel prices and unfavorable feed crop conditions. That year our horse hay price tripled. We didn't see the high prices then because the market was flooded with beef from farmers culling their herd numbers. It just wasn't worth it for them to keep the numbers with the added cost. They reported a record yield in beef that year. farmers have been reluctant to jump back in, so demand outstrips supply at the moment. You can tell it's bad because lately supermarkets have been blending the beef with pork to avoid sticker shock. Somewhere militant vegans are rejoicing

Increase in alien cattle mutilations perhaps?
No, actually just like any commodity the price can be artificially controlled to maximize profits for producers. The only people who lose are the ones who always get fucked - the consumer. |

I never buy pre minced anything, I worked in a butchers years ago.
Want to know what makes that expensive steak mince look so red? it's at least a quarter ox heart. lean beef for mince/stews is about $4 a lb here, but I am surrounded by grass fed cows, so it's pretty cheap. |
Probably some shit in Argentina.
|
Fiddy people just like me, who cunt a4d ground beef... :(
|
When I see the prices mentioned in this thread I want to cry, around here prices are around 2-3x and no one is starving. :2 cents:

I remember back in 2013 around Xmas time, we were seeing prime rib at $3.99/lb and much of it was US Beef (Choice or better). Now on sale Prime rib is $8. The rest of the time it is $12 |

Publix is awesome as a grocery store chain. They were actually voted #2 for the best grocery chain in the county and that's saying quite a bit being they are only in a 6 states. I hate going to grocery stores in other places after getting used to Publix here in FL. |
The faster obama prints money the faster shit rises.. Inflation is a bitch..

Dvae, Dynamo is a fucking idiot that didn't even notice that I did not mention Global Warming or Climate change as a cause of the drought, even though it does play a part. I don't know much about it, but from what I've read, droughts come and go, though it is probably worse due to climate change. Anyway, the fact that Cattle produces greenhouse gasses like Methane is common knowledge, and there is a good breakdown of what causes what on this page: Methane Emissions | Climate Change | US EPA Methane comes from other sources too including natural sources like wetlands, decomposing bacteria, etc. Most of the methane though is still man made (Coal mining : 10%, Landfills : 18%, petroleum & natural gas : 29%, according to the chart). Don't fall into Dynamo's stupid sniping example of discussion. Dynamo is completely blind when it comes to science, facts, or anything that contradicts his beliefs, and is also blind to anything I have to say (which is fine by me). GFY is a fun place to hang out and discuss topics and even argue at times, but its only fun when the arguments are based on ... something... anything.. Dynamo can't, so he just does drive-bys... Peace. |
Maybe all that cheap GMO corn they feed the poor cows.

nevertheless, you're a hypocritical dumbfuck for trying to bring up global warming in this thread. i factually pointed that out. maybe that's why you have a problem with facts, they don't coincide with your dumbfuck opinions. |

It's expensive for my family I am taken care of 7 people including myself the youngest is 9 the oldest is 62 *shrugs* Tons and Tons of money just on beef. I don't know how the lower class income people or people on stamps can do it.

But since you bring it up: Global Warming Effects on Drought Global warming affects evapotranspiration—the movement of water into the atmosphere from land and water surfaces and plants due to evaporation and transpiration— which is expected to lead to: - Increased drought in dry areas - Expansion of dry areas. and Climate change affects a variety of factors associated with drought Causes of Drought: What's the Climate Connection? | Union of Concerned Scientists There is high confidence that increased temperatures will lead to more precipitation falling as rain rather than snow, earlier snow melt, and increased evaporation and transpiration. Thus the risk of hydrological and agricultural drought increases as temperatures rise. Much of the Mountain West has experienced declines in spring snowpack, especially since mid-century [3]. These declines are related to a reduction in precipitation falling as snow (with more falling as rain), and a shift in timing of snowmelt. Earlier snowmelt, associated with warmer temperatures, can lead to water supply being increasingly out of phase with water demands. While there is some variability in the models for western North America as a whole, climate models unanimously project increased drought in the American Southwest. The Southwest is considered one of the more sensitive regions in the world for increased risk of drought caused by climate change/ So one more time, you miserable fucking prick, you racist, you science denying koch sucker, you animal cruelty lover: Go fuck yourself. |

Want to know how it works? Google Goldman Sachs and aluminum. Learn what they did there (rotating it between warehouses to create fake demand) and realize they can apply to anything, including beef that spoils. |

you post here like you're a tree-hugging peace-loving canadian but all it takes is my pointing out in this thread that it made no sense for you to exclaim global warming for you to drop the tree hugger libtard bullshit and show your mean-spirited true self while flaying about trying to cover your ass re: your fail to make this about global warming. |
