There have been a few times that I've had problems with sponsors and couldnt get it resolved through my rep, then I'd post it here and it was resolved within minutes.

I think having *many* angry affiliates is worse for them than one semi-angry affiliate, and would get you paid faster.

1000 is pretty high and they should work something out with you. but really you should be talking with them.

It's the right thing to do to warn others on the board. It's selfish on your end to not want to reveal their name "in hopes they see the thread and get scared" and pay you. If they are secretly changing their terms to you and if they are a big "well known company", think how many smaller affiliates they are basically screwing over just like they are doing to you.

You would be doing a disservice to others on the board by protecting this company. If anything, you outing them would make them pay you faster because it would damage their reputation that they are raising the minimum payout from $50 to an absurd $1000. That's a sign of shady business practice no matter how big the company is.

even though I promoted them and did well with them.

By outing them, you would be helping existing affiliates unaware of this new payout change and new affiliates that was thinking of promoting that program.

HINT: That is simply a post hoc rationalization of your immature behavior. The way you conduct yourself reflects on you, not others. Further, if your business mattered at all to them, you wouldn't need to create a thread. Act like a business person, not a burger flipper.... Focus on productivity and goals, not stupidity, immaturity and nonsense. Few things in this life are more futile than attempting to change the behaviors of others.

I checked their site to see if this is the company he was talking about. They still have a $100 minimum for cheques and it is $1000 for wires , with a $45 fee for wires.

I could see it for International Wires. It's just easier to get things in chunks of 1k with wires.

I forget who it was.. it may or may not have been Twistys -- this was several years ago. Whomever it was, wire payouts had a threshold of 1k or 2k, I forget which. It'd be kind of silly to pay 30 to 50 dollars for anything less than $500.

#1. Relying on their reputation is inane as lots of big companies fold.
#2. I would tell them to close my account and send me the balance owed.

Our minimum on checks is 1000 too. Paxum and wire are free and at 100 min. We also have a cam platform.... Hm

Minimum is not much the point. When he signed it was a lower minimum, so if the sponsor decides to make it higher, affiliate is entitled to get paid what he is owed (reached under the previous minimum).

So point is shady tactics, not the high minimum itself :)

I agree but it is also the $1000 limit that is daunting. Not only are there less affiliates these days but you, as a Program, are less likely to KEEP those that are left promoting you if you take longer to pay them.

Raising the minimum payouts after signing up is like snatching the football away when Charlie Brown is about to kick it. I am surprised Roald's company would set a check that high; wires I understand (tho the highest minimum I have seen was $500). But as long as an aff knows this going in it's ok, he can make the choice. But to expect a payout, then not get one, then to be told it's been raised tough titties....yeah, not good.

We have minimums set at $20 so all it takes is 1-2 sales and you get a check. Plus, you can combine sales from other Programs into a single check almost gaurunteeing a weekly payout. The best thing about CCBill. :)

1000 is fine if you know about it. That is how we do it. I don't waste my time with people who want me to do all the work for them and after 30 e-mails doing their job they put up one link on the bottom of a blog that sends 3 hits a week.

You should hope you don't get sued. If their TOS says that they can change the minimum payouts at their discretion and you did agree to it (and even if it doesn't), then i'd hope you're not too stupid to fail to understand that this is not only actionable in civil court, but is also illegal.

I would guess that lemonade stands in the hood, would be one of the few places to find more immature, naive and ignorant people trying to conduct business than exist in this industry.
