It's been done before in the past and it invariably fails.

The problem is that if the models on the page aren't doing hardcore then there's not enough interest to maintain it. With the hardcore there's interest but the French are very reluctant to use the Internet for any kind of money transaction unless it's to a well established state recognized business. (NB. Playboy Germany is doing fine in a country similar to France. And in the small Netherlands Playboy magazine is also a good one with beautiful models. Both offer a website for members but only in german/dutch :(
So from my point of view there's a place for a real Playboy France who could be more profitable with a website in both language, french and english. You're right on this point, unfortunately for the french consumers but it reduces the cost for export.

Playboy has a solid identifiable brand that has been around for decades. Plus it's marketing resources that you can't even hope to match. And despite the size of the French market Playboy does not appear to be willing to commit the resources on any endevor.
