My opinion is that the govt. has given cops too much power.
It started with the Supreme Court making rulings on their ability to search people. When I was a young guy...the cops couldn't search your car. They couldn't search your wife's purse, etc.
Now? They can do any damn thing they want. All in the name of the "War On Drugs" (which has been more of a "War On The American People").
Now you add in the boogieman of "terrorism" and it's taken shit to a new level.
I think the first thing would be to give people back some of their rights and take away some of the absolute power that cops have been given.
Then second...police dept's around the country have got to change their police of "shoot to kill" for EVERY circumstance that a police officer draws his weapon. That's just ridiculous.
And third...if a cop kills someone, even in the line of duty. They should be held accountable the same as a regular citizen. If they are innocent, it will be proven. Just like citizens.
