Yup I remember fondly when my brother made a crater in the back yard, lol.

we used to have bottle rocket fights. holding the bottle rocket by the stick, you can flick it right before it launches and send it flying toward your adversary, who would have to stay in the area where the bottle rocket would blow up. good times but we caught the carpet on fire in my parent's indoor/outdoor entertainment area, on account of a bad aim. my dad was pissed off at those drive-by teenage hooligans we blamed that one on!

Same with Roman Candles (now Harry Potter wands, lol), sans the catching the house on fire part.

getting the bottle rocket to blow up timed properly with a hit was difficult, not to mention flicking it right before it burned your hand firing on launch.

The bottle rocket noises scared me more, so I didn't f with those, lol.

I lit 144 little bottle rockets at once and they fell pointed towards me right when I lit them.. :upsidedow

Seriously though, just make mortars illegal like M80s/M60s/Cherry bombs in most places, they're the ones ruining all the fun for the rest of the fireworks.
