I understand the circumstances surrounding this are questionable but I doubt someone would spend $55,000 to go on an illegal hunt when you can do it legally in South Africa for only $12,000. Everyone wants to ignore all the quotes I posted on page 1 regarding big game hunting funding animal conservations so we can skip that because apparently it's "bullshit" and Zoologists, government officials, and people from animal conservation non-profits like the WWF aren't legitimate sources. My real question that you did NOT answer was: Quote:

AFRICAN LION (in-store sales only)
Leg Roast 19.95 lb. Loin Roast 25.95 lb. Steaks 25.95 lb. Tender Loins 32.95 lb. Stew Meat 18.95 lb. Ribs 12.95 lb. Burgers, 1/3 lb. Size 12.95 lb. wild game, Czimer's Game & Seafood, Inc. Homer Glen, IL Large Game If you guys want to get your estrogen under control and actually do something about the plight of lions then you might want to figure out a way to reduce the population of sub-saharan Africa because that is the number one threat to lions. Lions are not going to become extinct because middle aged white moronic dentists go over and shoot a few. By far the biggest problem is habitat destruction and shit stains in Africa who poach these animals. Since 1980 the number of lions has been cut in half and in the next 30 years the population of sub-saharan Africa is projected to double. This asshole in Minnesota is getting all the attention because he's white and from the USA and we all know white people are evil. |

The Oxford University researchers who have studied the lions where Cecil lived found that trophy hunting just outside the national park had "an alarming impact on lion numbers and population structure within the park."
"Each removal of a male lion by hunters on the borders of the park created a 'territorial vacuum' which drew males from further inside the protected area into boundary areas, where they too became vulnerable to hunters," the university said. A complete moratorium on trophy hunting around the park between 2005 and 2008 coincided with a 50% increase in the lion population there, the researchers noted. Trophy hunting restarted in 2009 but with close monitoring by the Oxford research team, Zimbabwean authorities and other groups to ensure its impact on the lion population was sustainable. Studies have shown that with these big, lavish hunts, only 3% to 5% of the income from that hunt actually ends up for local people on the ground where the hunt happens," "There are much better ways to earn this kind of money -- revenue from nature tourism, where the animal's not killed, brings in three to 15 times what's brought in from these trophy hunts in Africa," Now that Cecil is dead, the next lion in the hierarchy, Jericho will most likely kill all Cecil's cubs so that he can insert his own bloodline into the females," the Zimbabwe Conservation Force said. the issue here is that the shooter most certainly knew of the implications, issues, problems, risks and concerns of trophy hunting lions on the border of that park. $55k to shoot there v $12k elsewhere, why do you think that is? becuase of those risks involved. the fucking very lion he killed was wearing a tracking collar to study that very problem. the tracking collar the shooter left behind after he continued with his trophy collecting by cutting off the lion's head and skin and taking both of those with him. but he dindu nuffins, it was the other guy. |

Necessity, greed, incompetence. Human traits that everybody can relate to to some degree. Poacher is greedy, Zimbabwe government is incompetent... Getting your dick hard by killing something beautiful we don't get. It's not just because it's a lion. how many people killed every day? I bet you the guy killing to get his dick hard gets more column inches than the one who killed while committing a robbery. |

Never mind the legality of the situation, or whether or not the animal in endangered. I just find myself wonder what is broken inside a person that leads them to finding joy in hunting and killing an animal simply for the pleasure of doing it.
I understand and have no problem with people who hunt and eat what the kill or hunting to help maintain the health of an animal population, but paying simply for the pleasure of shooting and killing something so you can have it as a trophy boggles me. |
