What's up with that name, it doesn't make any sense?

The name makes very much sense, especially now. The name sounds like a service for chicks. And at least in here it was very much advertised like it is a service for women. It wasn't said, but the impression was like that.

Men of course think that there are women as it is a service for women. It is a fucking clever, though twisted marketing if you ask me. Service for women that is actually just a rip off for men. LOL. :)

I got new business idea: "Night club for beautiful, young and horny women. Here you can party and discuss about men and share the latest gossips. Finally; club for women."

Guess; would it end up as a sausage fest or not? :)

If you'd leave this out: "discuss about men and share the latest gossips", yes. Otherwise no man would go there.

CaptainHowdy 08-27-2015 05:37 AM

So Ashley Madison was a sausage party ...

Without that it is just a club for beautiful, young and horny women. Not very believable. Though maybe I am just underestimating men, or overestimating, depends how you look it.

Besides, it reveals their intent; you know, they are interested about men, not lesbians.

Biggy 08-27-2015 06:51 AM

Almost all these adult dating sites are free, unless you want to talk to a chick, then you must pay.

But then, your talking the amount of women on these sites is hundredths or thousandths of one percent, and they likely clicked an advertising that said there were many women right in their zip code.

So if there's so few women on the site, then why are men signing up to pay to talk, and who exactly are they talking to? And what, exactly, are they paying for? :helpme

ianmoone332000 08-27-2015 07:05 AM

Spunk gargling bonanza haha Do they have any claims about how many horny women are on the site?. Massive lawsuit coming to finish them off if so

I'm not sure I believ those numbers.

Of course every adult oriented dating site is going to have many more men than women join, but to have LESS than 10,000 active women?

I don't buy it.

I know women who have used the site personally and have many friends who are social workers who tell me stories of the many women they see who use AM.

That's just my experience, of what people reveal, in a smaller city, ... in Canada.

I just don't buy it.

This article is making the rounds. In at least one article, they reached out to the company for comment, and chose not to comment.

I think the larger question is if this is the nail on their coffin.

The media blitz has brought more traffic to their sites, but mostly bounces from what I've heard.

If the ratio is widely publicized will this be the end for AM or is there always another mark ready to sign up?

I have several friends that work there, so I hope they survive.

Data was stolen and released due to poor security or plain out theft (which is still considered poor security.)

Ratio of women to men is absolutely awful, even if underreported.

I cannot see why any guy would join this site. And that's just two of the factors.

This is a great question, as is, what are the implications and fall out of the other adult dating companies that are likely operating in the same manner?

Is Ashley Madison really an isolated case? I would assume they are one of the larger and more legitimate outfits, yikes. :2 cents:

wehateporn 08-27-2015 09:19 AM

This is going to destroy consumer confidence in adult dating websites

Did you look them up on the Ashley Madison floor plan document, "ALM Floor Plan - ports and names.pdf"? :winkwink:

Hmmm 1:13.400 not a good conversion :pimp

iSpyCams 08-27-2015 09:35 AM

Looks like the real cheaters were the site owners, lol. I guess it's true you should stick to what you know.

BTW I wonder how many of the male profiles checked their inbox at least once?

iSpyCams 08-27-2015 09:38 AM

Found this in their TOS:

Quote:

You acknowledge and agree that any profiles of users and members, as well as, communications from such persons may not be true, accurate or authentic and may be exaggerated or fantasy. You acknowledge and understand that you may be communicating with such persons and that we are not responsible for such communications.
LOL no shit, huh?

The list of data breaches that resulted in user data release of both Adult and Main stream companies is long. Few hit the media as hard as AM. Of those that have hit the media this hard I can think of less than 1% that go under.

Examples (limited to mainstream) you can search gfy if you want to see some of the adult ones.. off top of my head I can think of about 5 this year alone...

I agree that simple data security breach is not enough to kill products off, that happens.

However, discovering the entire product is a "fantasy" (or fraud, dependent one's own opinion)...

I think you're right on the money.

Consumer confidence won't drop in Google because Gmail got hacked - Gmail still does what it says on the box.

However with Ashley Madison we're talking about a site that has deliberately deceived consumers into thinking it was something it never was.

Yes, I wasn't referring to just the data breach, moreover the entire story which will not die and shows no sign of doings so, additionally the ratio if highly publicized could do serious damage.

I think its widely known in our industry that casual dating sites are mostly fantasy and many site blatantly tell their users that they make use of "fantasy bots".

Gmail was also not created with the intent of allowing people to cheat on their spouse.

This isn't "hey did you see the funny pictures that Roger sent Stacy?"

No, this is "Roger wants to cheat on Angela, maybe with Stacy."
