It's bad plot but he didn't die.. The other dude fell on top and that's who got ate. Very stupid being there is no way in hell anyone would survive like that.. But bet you anything he crawls out of the guts the next episode...

Granted, enough of the village people died, perhaps they needed a sacrificial lamb as to not turn into Star Trek red shirt guys.. However I don't think they would kill off Glenn as he's a fairly important.. I could see them killing off the redhead guy but not Glenn..

This is all guess work though as I've never read the comics or searched for plots on the net.

You know... come to think of it I think they hinted at him getting under the dumpster in a preview at the end of the season premiere... seem to recall that shot and thinking "holy fuck that would suck"...

I like Morgan and his shtick... (see what I did there...:winkwink: )

I'd rather see Sasha or Eugene get taken out. Without Abraham, Rosita's story gets messed up.

Glen will probably crawl out cartoon style while the zombies eat whats left of Nick :1orglaugh

if you think about all of the close scrapes and impossible situations Glen has squirmed out of, this would just be par for the course.

It seemed like "this is it" for Glenn so many times on this show -- probably way more than any other character.

How about the part when Rick saw those people outside the Rv and went full auto with the AK? He didn't even try to find out who they were and said fuck them.

Then it needs some top quality writers to come up with story lines that are different to killing zombies before they kill you.

My daughter and I are watching Vikings and seeing them form a shield wall. She pipes up, why don't they use shields in Walking Dead. To which I replied, it was written by Americans, their grasp of history is limited.

She doesn't realise Vikings is an American show. But does realise a shield is a better tool for fending off an attacker with a deadly bite, than an arm.

Two had already tried to kill him, he was hearing gun fire from the town. Was he supposed to invite those people in for tea?

Should anything like this happen, not zombies, the world will descend in wolves and sheep. More likely with an organised military sitting at the very top. Just like it is today in a few countries. Just more primitive.

I agree with what he did...I'm just saying it's a good example of Rick's character now, compared to who he was when the show started. If you're a threat to him, he will just straight up waste you without hesitation.

Glenn has stayed the same, and that got him killed. Maybe.

Is this show a documentary?

No, but a little more reality would help.

Like not cooking biscuits on a gas oven, As if the gas would still be flowing after all this time and shelf life of flour is 6 months. This latest community seems to have food on tap, see little attempt to grow any or rear livestock.

The most essential things we rely on would be gone. After a short while if it's not tinned or dried, it goes off quick. Clean water, heating, light, and food would all have to be provided as if it were the 18th Century.

A lot more scavenging for anything of use. Good to see in the last episode they were taking guns and rounds off the dead. Bullets would be a real issue, especially the way these people fire them.

Adding reality to the situation would add great story lines. Such as they become raiders of other communities. Vikings has heroes and they were real bastards. :thumbsup

Shields were only used for a relatively short period in battle history and only made sense in certain conditions since as much as they protect they also can limit movement. Same with armor; i.e., anything that weighs one down might also be a detriment more than an advantage. Scavenging has been a constant issue throughout the series and farming has been part of every settlement but downplayed after it has been established. The Gas would be an issue however rationing has also been established in the plot lines.

Vikings is a good series but would be even better if it didn't have to stay "pg" to some extent.

Where do they come up with the ideas for this?

There will likely not be any writing style changes either. It is all based on a comic book (although the show doesn't follow the comic exactly) and as I said before, it is the most watched non-sports show in America. They tend to not fix what isn't broken.

The show is based on a very popular comic book series.

astronaut x 10-28-2015 02:26 AM

My theory - Glenn is not dead. However, the old way of Glenn doing things will be. He will no longer be the Glenn that has never killed anyone on the show. He will be "Glenn like the person Rick has become" He will kill with no hesitation, hate himself for it, and struggle with his inner feelings of being a nice guy. This change will cause conflict with Maggie and they will grow distant.

Mic dropped, Close thread.

J. Falcon 10-28-2015 04:08 AM

This is shaping up to be one of the best seasons in a while, probably ever.

Shields in warfare were used up to the time of guns. So that short time period goes from 15th Century BC. Until today.

Rick as an ex policeman would know this and know the benefits of body armour against people with a lethal bite.

Rationing gas isn't the issue, the resources to get it through the system would have broken down. No one would be baking biscuits in a normal oven. Flour would be a problem. Also water would have to be taken from a river or well, then boiled. Utilities we take for advantage would be gone. Except electricity, people would be raiding places with solar panels and even using windmills.

Farming while they were in the prison was a daily routine. This new location seems not to have any problems finding enough food.

Also no settlement is safe with woodlands coming to the front door, wood is a great resource for heat and decent walls.

The daily struggle to stay healthy, fed, watered, and alive, besides death from zombies, would elevate the series to a new level.

As for Glenn, I thought he was getting his innards eaten. What about Rick stranded on top of the mobile home? Time for a clean out of characters, new leaders maybe Abraham, Michonne or Daryl take the lead and take the series on a route.

With all my complaints I'm still addicted to the series.

Yes Vikings is a bit PC. It has the annoying habit of throwing in pointless 1 minute love scenes.

arock10 10-28-2015 09:54 AM

They should turn Walking Dead into a show about farming, just like I thought The Wire should've turned into a real estate investing show. PERMITS, MAN!

Jim_Gunn 10-29-2015 02:03 PM

I predict Glenn got killed and will be back as a half eaten walker in the episode after next. Maggie will sadly have to put him down.

There was a brief part in one of the episodes that dealt with how they are overcoming some of these issues in the current town. Solar power generation and water cisterns that were self sustaining, etc. Obviously they didn't go into great detail. Just mentioned it in passing.
