How does Christchurch compare with Auckland? Europe is TOTALLY out for me - economically & geopolitically a disaster. Most of Europe will be administered by the muslim league decades from now, the parts that are not will be very difficult to live in as I see nothing but war and disruption coming up there. Brazil - the asses are too big and my friend from Rio has warned me about the crime. Chile, Argentina, Nicaragua, Panama all sound interesting. China is a pretty nice place to live these days but my top choice though would be Southeast Asia (Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia). Mostly english speaking, you're pretty central, good geo-political circumstances, economically moving forward apace with close ties to China. Worth mentioning Singapore has been voted easiest place to do business this week (New Zealand was second) out of almost 200 countries: Singapore tops World Bank business ranking for ninth year - BBC News |

I know absolutely nothing about that country but it doesn't look like many people speak English and its right next to Honduras which is like murder capital of the world. But still, show me a Nicaragua property site! |
Stay away from the Motherland

I miss the plains of Africa

Only one person said United States, which is hardly surprising since this is an English speaking bunch. |

Kids I see everywhere - so I assume it's a good place for that - lol I live in the center, I don't have or need a car. Bicycle is fine too. Cost of living... Depends on you. But you can live very cheap here. Beer is about $1.50, eating out for 2 people can be easily done for $20-$25. Just if you want a really posh life with fine dining, exquisite clubs and other luxury crap this is not the right place. |

Panama. Nice country, no taxes

anywhere except USA - Arabic nations - Eastern Asia

Costa Rica - lived there for a number of years - highly recommend it. (for relaxing reasons)
Your question all depends on your tax situation, how much you want to stay under the radar etc.. Are you looking for a new passport at some stage or just a temporary escape. Also depends if your single, kids, attached etc.. |

While it's what all us mini-ballers really want - to live like Kings in cheap foreign countries where the girls and drugs are plentiful - for safety reasons I tend to avoid any place where I'm the richest motherfucker in sight.

I've already decided which country I would move to. Little village outside Brno, in a shed, stuck in a cabbage field. |

I remember staying once at the Westin Bonaventure in LA. Had a nice suite with a panoramic view of the Hollywood Hills and the Hollywood Sign. Except after about 10am it was completely hazed out and not visible. Every big city in the world has smog, it's a fact of life in any fossil fuel burning transport environment. Every country in the world has pollution problems, some worse than others. China is getting better, pumping huge amounts of money into renewables - it will take time. As for China as a destination for expats, Shanghai is a cosmopolitan bustling city with enormous opportunity. |
You guys talking about moving to Uruguay have no idea what you're getting in to. Contact me on skype to learn the truth about what it's like to live hrre.

Someplace where it's sunny and I can live close to the water. Belize and Costa Rica come to mind.

It's true that China is very polluted but smog, even in Beijing, it doesn't happen that often and since China's economy is off its peak, things are getting a bit better lately. However, China is huge (almost as big as the United States in land area) and there are plenty of cities where pollution is minimal. Islands like Hainan, Lantau, Macau are beautiful. Parts of Shandong are nice. Hangzhou is known as the garden city, very clean and green and there are many more. |

I'd recommend a 2-months stay here Tops. Any more would pull you down morally. |

Before you move anywhere go spend 90 days and see if you can take it.

I have family that made the jump to San Pedro, Belize. They love it! It's quite remote as there are no cars on the island. But there is a big expat community if you are lookin to live on the beach this would be the place!
