I have a place in Brazil. Right now it is super cheap to live there. The girls are amazing. The people are super friendly. Downside is crime is high. I do not think I would raise my kids there.

Isn't Barcelona the new "It" place?

I remember staying once at the Westin Bonaventure in LA. Had a nice suite with a panoramic view of the Hollywood Hills and the Hollywood Sign. Except after about 10am it was completely hazed out and not visible.

Every big city in the world has smog, it's a fact of life in any fossil fuel burning transport environment.

Every country in the world has pollution problems, some worse than others.

China is getting better, pumping huge amounts of money into renewables - it will take time.

As for China as a destination for expats, Shanghai is a cosmopolitan bustling city with enormous opportunity.

Lets be realistic.. Yes there is pollution in the U.S. As there is in every other country in the world.. However China's pollution is 100s if not thousands of times worse.. It's not even comparable..

Are you serious? London is expensive. Barcelona is cheap, nice and very friendly (no Muslim patrols and no street gangs in Adidas sports suits). Cheap food, cheap hotels, cheap houses and apartments, cheap taxi etc. And very nice people live there.

I thought to buy I house near Barcelona on the sea shore (Castelldefels or something like that). The prices there are very affordable but unfortunately I can't leave my parents here even for a few weeks. They are very old to live alone :(

CHMOD 11-02-2015 08:57 AM

Funny that question : Ive been looking around for the last 3 years.

Quebec? Never again: Socialistic, poor, corrupt. Dumb and ugly women.
Germany? Never again: The Germans are great but their government is income tax crazy.
Denmark? Great people, too expensive.
South of Spain? Never again: bunch of unrespectful and uneducated locals and tourists.

I'll try north of Spain... thinking about Thailand.

That must have been a while ago - The last 10/15 years have seen Barcelona become one of the hottest places in Europe...

Sorry but I didn't get it. What do you mean by "hottest"? The prices or weather?

MachuPicchu 11-02-2015 09:16 AM

Same for me, New Zealand!
The property extremely expensive, though nature around you worth it!

geedub 11-02-2015 09:21 AM

Did five years in Costa Rica, it was fun.

London is awesome in many, many ways that some how makes it unique. A friend of mine from abroad recently said every tube station in central like a new city in the sense that there's so much to do and see which is absolutely true. Tourists rarely go to the right places or know what to do there.

The south of UK doesn't have a massive muslim population compared to the north of UK and muslim problems rare. However, the bigger downside is what you point out about the growing "Chav Culture" which you can see in East and South London and especially in places like Walthamstow, Mile end and places like that. Crime is a big problem in London.

My whole experience of the UK got tainted by a bad experience a few years ago but objectively speaking, great place and London has a lot to be said for it.

It's great that you care so much about your parents and make them the priority.

Whatever anyone decides I recommend that you live for at least 90 days in a place before you commit to long term.

Being an expat is not for everyone.

Sorry, when were you last in China ? How much of China have you seen ?

AntonMG 11-02-2015 03:22 PM

I'm french and moved to Canada 5 years ago with the wife and kids...
I really like it here and don't plan to move right now.
However, having done it once, I know it's not a bid deal and could do it again without stressing too much.

Having said that, I feel no attraction towards the US, the rest of the planet... well it depends on the opportunity.

izombie 11-02-2015 09:04 PM

I'm waiting for Cuba to open up and be more friendly to westerners looking to retire there, I'll have me a place on the beach near Santiago and smoke cigars and bang hot girls for the rest of my days.

LAJ 11-02-2015 09:45 PM

Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Czech... but not in that order.

It will take Cuba a long time to catch up to where I would want to live there

Australia is the most expensive place to live on that list, by a long shot.

Remember 1 thing about Cuba.

You can NOT work in porn online.

Great place to visit buying is not as easy as you think and getting the things you are used to is impossible.

SIK 12-04-2015 11:30 AM

I could settle in banja luka, bosnia

Somalia is by far the best choice if you re lookin to retire or work in porn. One of the best beast beaches in the world, dirty cheap and beautiful girls.

Don't get scared by the media, these guys have guns only for fun, they just love to take pictures with their gun, that's all.

If you re looking for some great nightlife, Mogadishu, the capital, is the place that gets hotter every night.
