A got a nice Meinl bongo drum and a Zoboomafoo monkey [plush] which I wanted badly for years. My daughters got guinea pigs which they wanted so much for so long time, and my 9 year old one got her first guitar! :pimp
I was in trouble with what to give to my wife, so besides a few little things I promised her to buy her the very best nightgown the next time we visit the capital city with better shops-brands. In 10 days it will be her 35th BD as well, and as we sold our older but primary family car a few months ago it was time to get a nice replacement so today I bought her a nice Honda Civic [2008, 1.8 L engine]. Fancy little car :pimp OK, this was a surprise for the whole family, but she owns the car [she became the owner] and it will be a dream car for her to drive the kids in the city and do whatever she wants. Last but not least it makes the Subaru we were recently sharing back to me :))
Since I am a family man Xmas is obviously much more about the kids than us parents so getting little things / symbolic gifts is totally OK with me. And even if Xmas is about kids, we don't buy too much thing for them. Not because we don't love them, but because both my wife and I think it's stupid to buy all the shit you can for your kids.. Two-three yr old kids getting tablets and such stuff: this is not the way we raise our kids. We rather buy them good board games and play with them. The most important I can give to my kids is not my fucking money or what I can buy for it but MY TIME. They are getting their father play all the games and whatever they want with them all day long. Plus we cook together and visit the family together. We spend quality time together. It just fucking works, and this is the good way to go - in my eyes.
