Va2k 01-11-2016 11:16 AM

Hey man I have it and had it for a very long time. I have it bad even. I just watched NAT GEO last night, come to find out there is studies on this. Go out in nature, Go camping over night. Leave everything that is TECHNO behind, NO cell phones, no pc. If you have a gps I would take it. They are saying basically doing this a few times will brighten your life up.

I am going to go try this 100% for real. Just go spend time in nature. *shrugs*

Best-In-BC 01-11-2016 11:20 AM

Yep, try it if you like camping. I went on a trip earlier this summer with my gf and I brought a lot of weed and just wandered the trails smoking. No idea why, but I think that's when I completely got over it.

The main thing is to keep yourself busy, make and stick to goals, go on a walk every day and if you can't tell if you're bored or depressed, make yourself go out and do something and don't think too much. You'll be surprised at how much better you'll feel.

You're welcome. Beware of those that just dull you down.

Still a good idea to identify what's wrong. Also, try to change your routine to see if a change may help.

Wellbutrin is great for Generalized depression...Social anxiety...Seasonal affective disorder (SAD)

I have been on it for over 10 years and just look what a happy carefree individual that I am!

No seriously, it has help immensely for me as I have all 3 of those conditions so for me it is a miracle drug.

Talk to a doctor to find out the best course of treatment.

Hit the gym, go running...release those endorphins. Good Diet + exercise = Depression killer. Get to the root of the cause! 95% or less (made up figure in my head) of people on meds don't have any sort of chemical imbalance.

These drugs absolutely work on clinical depression and schizophrenia.

People are just fucking pussies who whine about their mild discomfort in life and think this
is depression.
They aren't depressed; they are just sad ass pussies.
The drugs can't cure a cry baby who is sad because life is not what they dream of.

The drugs only works for people who actually need it.

:2 cents:

I agree with you for ones lol, I mean 30 years ago how did we get by without this shit? All this shit they come out with and give people who don't need it.
The people on adderall lol WTF they take it like speed.
It should have no effect like that at all if you need it.

Surround yourself with people. If you don't manage to get that happening you can always play Splatoon (or some other video game of your choice). That takes your mind away from things :)

You can't heal a soul problem with pills.

Most depressions come from repressed emotions originating from our childhood, those repressed emotions are usually related to our parents but also sometimes trauma (like sexual abuse).

Usually you will repress emotions linked to physical violence from your parents (ie. you have been belted, slapped,...), emotional violence from your parents (ie. rage, anger towards you, condescending comments, mean comments,...), lack of love, rejection, you may also have experienced a lot of injustice at home, you may have been lied to, ... In many cases our parents didn't let us process those emotions and forced us to conceal those emotions so they didn't have to face the crap they did in the household. When you get into the habit to repress emotions at home as a child it becomes an habit as a teenager and adult. Eventually all those trapped emotions in your soul make you emotionally sick and possibly physically sick because trapped energy can disrupt physiological functions in your body.

In order to heal, it requires to revisit your childhood and be honest about what did happen, all the incidents that you have been forced to turn a blind eye on AND then feel all those trapped emotions to free your soul.

You can do that on your own by journalling, you can do that with the help of a psychologist and you can do that with the help of god if you believe he is your creator.

Depression kills. I hope you overcome it.
I think you should be more active, eg. sports, socially (real interactions), get a hobby, throw away some old stuff, get a pet, start a backyard garden.

Here's one non-chemical technique that works: Meditate and Help others

Seriously.

When you meditate, you gain inner peace. You stop JUDGING your thoughts.

It is OVER JUDGMENT that leads to self-absorption that is the CORE of depression.

You learn to acknowledge your thoughts but not JUDGE them.

You learn to live in the moment.

Your SELF becomes LESS the center of the Universe

Also, when you VOLUNTEER, you practice COMPASSION.

The center of your attention moves away from you and on to others

That's how you defeat depression ONCE and for ALL

Chemicals can only make the problem worse... plus they create pscyhological addiction

Remember.... the solution doesn't come from OUTSIDE of you... REAL peace can only come from one place... WITHIN.

Get well, my brother.

I wish you nothing but LOVE and PEACE

the OP does not provide enough info for armchair psychoanalysis. simply getting older, by itself, can be depressing. seasons makes people depressed.

i would suggest only to vet your doctor carefully. its my opinion that a lot of the therapy business is a racket that solves no problems for their patients, to ensure endless stream of cash from insurers.

my experience with doctors is they tend to have 95% worthless observations you already know. once in a while, you might get a gem that clarifies your thinking. sorta like combing through 30 crappy GFY threads before finding an insiteful business thread.

whatever the answer is, will likely require work, & some effort to re-connect with happy people. Study the law of attraction, cause self isolating will not help.

GL. :)

Heal and soul problems are usually handled by podiatrists. They should be the one to decide if you need a pill or not.

just my :2 cents:

Thanks brother! I have a shrink in town that I plan to visit - he used to prescribe me Xanax by the truckload back in the day. I just know there is a slew of drugs he is going to want to prescribe, so I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for which to ask for, and which to avoid. He's not the type of doctor that wants to "discuss" my feelings. He's more of a script writer...which isn't always a bad thing.

I could load up GFY, but his first suggestion would probably be, "Block that site". :winkwink:

Don't take xanax. First thing you should do is get a full blood panel; hormones, liver enzymes, cortisol, cholesterol. If you're hormones are out of wack, say for example if you have low test and/or high estrogen, you will feel like shit and that will affect you mentally. Also do a full test of your thyroid, your TSH might be low which all can be fixed with natural supplements - do NOT take thyroid meds or else you'll be on it for the rest of your life.

Poor hormones will affect your dopamine and seratonin levels, and those are what control your mood/depression. THese can also be fixed with natural supplements.

Get a full panel done to understand what is going on with your health before you chart a course of action back to good health. Godspeed.

- Tune your diet.

This ^^^^^^^^

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE proper sleep. I did for years and finally had a two night sleep study done. I had severe sleep apnea not with a AHI of 72. That means I stopped breathing an average of 72 times AN HOUR for at least 10 seconds per occurrence. My average occurrence rate was 45 seconds! That means I spent more time NOT BREATHING than I did actually sleeping.

After the first night of using a CPAP machine (which forces air into you went you stop breathing my AHI went from 72 to 1.7! Anything below 5 is considered normal! I went from the sleep study hospital directly to work and was bouncing off the walls with energy. It was like I had taken the pill from "Limitless".

I even bought two machines in case one went down. I can't live, sleep, function without it. I'm in Jakarta right now and of course I brought it with me. Pro tip: CPAP machines are considered medical devices and do not count towards your carry on luggage limitation (not that they are so big and cumbersome).

Because of my renewed energy, I've lost 30lbs, am not DEPRESSED, stopped taking Nexium for acid reflux, stopped needing naps - actually am in bed LESS hours than before, seen a major drop in blood pressure and look at life very differently. And with my new found energy, I hit the gym everyday and walk everywhere I can.

Diet? Loads of fish, fruit and vegetables.

I don't know if this applies to you. But please, do not underestimate that sleep controls many things in yours and everyone's life.

I hope this helps and you are able to fix what ails you and live the type of life that you and everyone deserves.

I went online, and out of 10 symptoms, I would say 7 or 8 were right in my wheelhouse. Nine if I'm being honest.

Has any of you ever suffered from depression? Did you take medication? Which medications work? Don't work? Did you feel better after taking meds?

I honestly don't know what could have caused it. I live a healthy lifestyle (no drugs, not even booze), I'm not broke, and I'm a pretty laid back guy. For the most part, pretty stress free. I hate feeling like this.

Do you exercise? If not, do something you enjoy the most, swimming, cardio or gym whatever.

Have you tried some supplements? Your state of mind doesn't have to mean you are low on serotonin which doctors claim from right to left.

But if you really do, try a good brand of 5htp which is the precursor of serotonin in combination with a good b-vitamin complex instead of getting psych meds.

That's a good first start believe me.

A while ago I was in a similar situation.. Everything was alright and still, I had bad thoughts and depressive state of mind. My kids, my wife, my dog and my guitar helped me getting through this. Similar feelings are coming back again and again during wintertimes.. I lack the Sunshine [so I eat vitamin D].. A few more days and we'll be over the half of the winter! :) :pimp

Get an instrument and make some music! :2 cents: :pimp - Take No Meds!!!!!!!!!

medication is for pussies....

take up BJJ...do not think just do it...BJJ is highly addictive and healthy, you will stimulate not only your body but your mind, you will be thinking about BJJ most of the time and this will cure your depression..

serious post :thumbsup
