apparently none of y'all have been sucker-punched by Uber's surge pricing.

A bit like trying to explain to surfers *why* we in the adult industry are up in arms over piracy, when all they know is: it's legal porn with paid performers and they can go to a multitude of torrent sites/filelockers/illegal tubes and stuff themselves silly with a fantastic delivery method. Until the surfer actually puts himself on the side of production, he has zero idea about the costs involved, the differing legalities, and the constraints a paysite has as opposed to those eg a filelocker has. So... take off crb checks as misguided hysteria by whomever, and that leaves licencing fees as laid down by the (UK, and from this thread it seems, also AUS) gov't, and set fares for 1 group of people but not for the other. I'm sure those adhering to TFL and their local council regs would love to be able to compete with Uber in a true free market, the fact is though, they are unable to. *That* is why UK cab drivers are pissed off, and I can't blame them at all. |

You are that dense to think Uber would allow peolple with criminal records with rapists, murderers and drunk drivers to drive around in a free for all? Someone had to give you "wrong info" to believe that? Your IQ and reasoning abilities are that low to not distinguish it for yourself? The entire thread you're posting non stop how everyone is wrong about cabbies and your argument to back that up is to post COMPLETE LIES about Uber? Great job! Now admit youre wrong and go hide with your tail between your legs in the corner. |

here you go champ: yup, I was wrong on that for sure. makes it about 3 - 1 to me on points raised so far, but well done. Care to comment on the fact Uber fares aren't set by UK gov't, nor do they need to pay UK tax? Nor need to complete 'the knowledge' that black cab operators have to by law? And can own a 10 year old car as opposed to 2 years old for new black taxi drivers (tested twice a year if older than 8)? If you truly can't see why drivers would be pissed at that, then there's not much I can say... you have your 'side' and will blindly defend it no matter what :2 cents: btw if I'm wrong on any of those, feel free to point it out - I hate being in the wrong as much as the next person, and would far sooner know the right than sit here totally mis-educated by UK cab drivers if all they are doing is furthering their own cause with bs. |

It can be a bit different in each country, but there are high requirements for taxi drivers in Europe. And the legality of Uber is still questioned.. so it could be a matter of court ruling that could simply ban them. Also, not true there is no competition among Taxi services, I can get a 5e fixed rate per ride here. That is not really much. Others can charge much more and per km basis and the drivers are professionals There is a shitload of taxi services here, I don't really care about some shady amateurs from Uber without license at this time. |
