It's easy to get a picture of what it makes. Take the US and EU traffic per day estimate the CTR on ads, the price they're paid for clicks and a rough guess can be made. Of course you have to deduct the costs, servers, staff, location, etc.

Which illustrates the falling value of this industry, prices would be increasing for domains if we made more money. They are in fact falling dramatically.

I have a vague memory of that domain being stolen via the registry. Emails were posted and letters, too. A lawsuit against the thief eventually got the domain returned. I read it all here so if you search back to the mid-nineties I think you’ll find it.
