Or Gary Cherone joining Van Halen for one album and a few concerts.

Fiddy fill-ins.

Cherone was just awful. It's funny how no radio station anywhere plays any of the songs off that album. It's like everyone is trying to pretend it never happened.

Other than the live Tokyo Dome abortion, the VH/Cherone album was the only one of their catalogue I never got the wallet out for.

Well look, I am an aging former rock band front man with minor hearing loss and I can tell you that for a singer that's a big fucking problem. My own hearing issues are so slight they are not even diagnosable, just slightly south of ideal and I can still throw the whole show off if the stage sound setup isn't optimal.

And I would NEVER try to tackle AC/DC or Rush or most Zeppelin tunes or any of that high pitched stuff where going slightly pitchy sounds like a cat being tortured.

I am not saying they made the right decision, I am just saying that if they ruled him out based on him being completely deaf and he turned out to be only mostly deaf, that's still not a surprise for me.

If a Pornstar gets a mastectomy, a guitarist loses fingers, a runner breaks an ankle, a chef loses his sense of smell - if they persist we may or may not give them an A for effort but things are just not gonna be the same. We may appreciate their previous contributions, but not everybody can adjust to their new limitations and it's not really reasonable to expect them to.

Tell that to Def Leppard and their one-armed drummer. :)

He had years to practice with one arm and started that way, if he had 2 arms all along and lost one now, I don't think he'd be drumming with anyone - not for a few years anyway. Also drummers don't need to be on pitch, just on beat, even deaf people can do that if the bass is loud enough.

Just Alex 03-30-2016 12:15 PM

I'd go but I bet they will jack up ticket prices to $80 to $100 for nosebleeds.

actually he lost it in a car accident while he was with the band.

So if i have to pay for a ticket concert for ACDC, i'll get to see 2 legends for the price of one, not a bad deal

That's one way of looking at it although not the way I do.

I see it as a bastardization of a classic rock band by bringing in an outside member to do the most crucial role of all - lead vocals.

You are NOT seeing AC/DC but rather Axel Rose singing AC/DC covers. :2 cents:

Not something I am interested in having see the original lineups of both AC/DC and GNR.

I will take a pass on this one!

rayadp05 03-30-2016 12:53 PM

In my opinion, AC/DC will never be the same without Brian Johnson. And yes, I know that he is not the original singer, but still ...I think of AC/DC when I hear Brian singing.

yeah, bon scott was in the band for 6 years while brian johnson has been for 35.

Tasty1 03-30-2016 03:03 PM

They finish the tour and than the band i think. Maybe a studio album. I wouldn't go to a concert Axl Rose singing ACDC. He isn't a legend, AXL was international only 2 years popular while ACDC attracts again a whole new generation with the Iron Man success.

Nope he lost I a car accident after the Pyromania album. Def Leppard could've replaced him with another drummer but delayed their next album and tour while he recovered and had a custom drumkit made for him.

That's a rare case tho. LOL

SilentKnight 03-30-2016 03:51 PM

Now they're saying the rumour of Axl doing vocals is just a publicity scam to keep them in the spotlight for the new tour.

Brian and Angus sittin' in a room somewhere saying, "Watch what happens when we tell'em Axl will do vocals, lol."

2MuchMark 03-30-2016 05:49 PM

There is no mention of this on the official website AC/DC | The Official Website

Almost April 1 ....

Angus is living in Holland in a small village in the middle of nowhere.

Yes I was wrong with my example, but the fact remains that the voice is a fretless instrument that has to be constantly tuned by ear. It cannot be played by sight or by memory. Good clear hearing is an essential element, unless your name is T-pain or Lil' Wayne or Kanye.

Axl lost his voice

He can't those high notes like he used to

While they are replacing people why stop at lead vocals?

Not sure if that sub-woofer is facing forward or back.

selena 04-14-2016 04:48 PM

I know there will be those that disagree, but I think they sound pretty good. Especially considering you have a 54 year old lead singer sitting down due to a broken foot. (broke it during the 2nd song at the Troubadour show)

My boys were there for the show on the 9th, and they had a blast. Alice in Chains started within 10 minutes of their posted time, and GnR within an hour of AIC ending. So pretty timely.

I listened to a live stream, and they just slayed Coma. It was the 6th time that song had ever been played live.

I've got tickets to the Nashville show, and am pumped about it! And before someone tells me, yes, I am old and clinging to the nostalgia of my youth. :pimp

I'll admit - he sounded not too bad there. At least better than he's sounded in years.

I read his book, and he came across as someone I would not like at all, his musical talents aside. I also read Duff's, and he sounded intelligent, chill, and like a grown up.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised. As a fan, I hoped for the best, but realistically, it could have been pretty bad.

If ...and this is a HUGE if...they did all the dates of their tour with no cancelled shows, no late starts, played great music, and maybe got joined by Izzy or Adler for a few dates along the way, then they could go a long way towards rock and roll redemption.

But the likelihood of implosion is admittedly high.

rogueteens 04-15-2016 11:26 AM

I heard that kayne West was going to be the new frontman

I can't recall the exact details or specific examples of what made me feel that way. It has been too long since I read the book. I just know that to me, he came across like somewhat of a douche.

I think it had to do with the fact that I didn't get any sense of him telling his story, and having grown from his experiences. It was all bravado about how much he used to party.

In contrast, Duff's book also told stories about being wasted, but he didn't sound like a former frat boy bragging about them. It came across like "I did this, these are the things that I did toward getting out of that kind of situation, this is my life now, I sill rock and roll while not being a mess, etc"

Also, I always doubt...and this isn't just about Slash...when people are detailing how fucked up they were, but they also have perfect recall about everything that is going on. Case in point was in the Wolf of Wall Street where the guy is saying that he's done something like 7 ludes, and knows what went down.

Sorry...no. :1orglaugh
