I'm a libby and I love all animals, but I agree with you. While it looked like the Gorilla was protecting the kid at times, it could have easily killed him.

I was thinking that maybe a Tranquilizer dart would have saved the Gorilla, it might not have acted fast enough, and it might make him crazy, and that might make the situation worse.

Perhaps legally, or for insurance reasons, they had to act fast, and use a bullet.

Am I supposed to value humans above all else because I am human? Well, I'm also a mammal. Other mammals are not competing with us for resources like other humans are.

Plus, there are over 50,000 times more humans than gorillas. It's like comparing a penny and $500 - then trying to convince people that pennies are more valuable for some emotional reason.

Wrong, the father wasn't even at the zoo and the mother made no attempt to scale the fence as she had her head turned towards her other children. Another man did scale the fence, but the boy had already gone over the ledge when the man cleared the fence.

Before they come to lock me up I should say I don't value the gorilla's life more than the kid's. Having not known either existed until recently; I value them both equally. Which is basically not at all. I was shocked by this news and I feel bad for everyone involved. Especially the child, his mother, the gorilla and his keeper; The ones closest to the victims who were personally affected. Isn't that how our value system works? The people and animals closest to us get the most love while others shouldn't matter so much.
