This is odd, as I could go to Subaru tomorrow and buy the same car and I have sweet fuck all. Maybe it is different in Canada, or maybe my opinion of sweet fuck all is different from what a dealer would consider of one having nothing.

$5000+ their profit is enough to get financed. most spyfi do not require more than about $1000-1500 in fees to get financed, if any at all. unless the price was worked to the bone, this shouldn't be a problem.

A car can't define me as a person...a WRX is a great car...its an economical drivers car...performance at a low price...more importantly...its what I want.

My father's employer back in the 80's was a very wealthy man. Bought and paid for everything with cash/bank check etc.

Anyway, times got tough in the last part of the 80's when the real estate market started to crash...(his company was a carpet company that depended upon new homes being manufactured.) As I said times got a bit tough and he needed a new car, not like the one he had was any problem...the guy goes down to the same lot he's been buying from for years and wants to purchase one using a loan...guess what?! The guy has virtually no credit, not bad, just no credit and can't get a fucking loan.

Go figure.

just do what I did... eloan.com (run by bank of america) -- walk in the dealership with a blank check... they have actually been pretty good to me so far even if i skip a payment they aren't fuckheads...

but i can guarantee you will be bored of the WRX in 2-3 years so just fucking lease the shit... at least that way you can deduct it from your taxes... and in 3 years when you are bored of the WRX you won't be stuck trying to sell the crap on ebay

I offered a 50% cash deposit on a recent model 2nd hand car and the finance company knocked it back. Eventually they conceded and offered me a crappy rate with a massive 5 years to pay it off. I've got more than half of the loan paid off in a few months so far! I don't understand why they were so tight, considering it was a second hand car (the nasty first year mass depreciation was over), and I was putting up half the price as cash.

In Australia you don't get a credit rating, just a list of enquiries (credit checks) and defaults. It's up to you to provide extra documentation to show that you have paid off other loans with no problems...

I've been having credit problems myself, namely, I have no credit history because I never had to take out a fucking loan.

Only recently did I manage to get a credit card.

On the other hand, I just bought a 135k condo, all I needed was 15% down.
Of course, a house is easier to finance than a car.

She called me yesterday, turns out she's my accountant's receptionist calling to confirm my appointment next week. Tahoe's a small fucking town! Lol

I've heard if you plan on buying a house anytime in the near future to hold off on financing a car untill after you have purchased the house because a car payment can severely damage your chances of getting a home loan.

Yep that sure is true in my recent experience.....good advice RichJ, it was too late for me though and I got denied on one particular house loan mostly for that very reason.
