in a car park i would of thought the best solution would of been to strap explosives to the roof of the floor below and blow him out but in any case they did what they needed to do.

What's to understand? The guy was a garden variety nut. As for his motivation, he already stated as much to the negotiators.

Next thing you know it will be like raiding offices and other non violent targets with SWAT teams which has also become standard practice. Cops have shown time and time again, when they get new toys they find ways to use them.

Those who cheer this action and ok it away are not thinking very far ahead.. Next it will be micro drones as technology advances and the cops will be OK'd to be judge,jury and executioner..

The people who think this was ok use of force are the same people who think NSA spying is ok to save them from terrorist.. meanwhile not a single attack has ever been stopped by the NSA spying. Yet we are all treated as terrorists and spied on..

Cops are not hired to blow people up or shoot them dead. They are hired to serve and protect..even the bad guys.

Pretty soon all you nimrods with your guns will be out gunned by drones and your guns will be useless because cops will just take you out while having a doughnut and coffee sitting in a truck somewhere looking at a computer screen.

You either get the govt and cops in check now or your future is sealed to an Orwellinton fate. Technology has advanced to a point where a person taking a stand will never have a chance again in the near future be that person be in the right or wrong..

Aside from the camera on the robot, the technology is exactly all that new.

This is very true and it's one of the reasons I troll on Texas so hard. They are the first ones to run their mouths about freedom, yet most people there have no clue what freedom is.

In my experience Florida and Texas are two of the worst nanny states in the union. The cop to civilian ratios are way out of whack in those states compared to most of states I've visited or lived in.

Where there is cops, there will be crimes to find. These states that have no state tax have to make up the money in other ways. It's very clear in both state the so called justice system is a tax on the people living there.

If cops aren't being sent out for disturbances or writing tickets then they aren't needed.. It's pretty easy to see where that leads..

Also notice, both states are filled with private for profit prisions.
