If you go with a woman make sure you are married to her.

(1) If you use the monorail, get a GOLD ticket day pass. Its just a couple $ more than the regular one but you can go into the first class cabin and usually have a chance to sit down and not be squeezed in like a sardine amongst labour people. (2) One evening drop into "The Address" which is attached to the Dubai Mall, and head for the amazing bar at the top. (3) Hit the VAULT at the top of the JW Marriot Marquis hotel (Floor 71) - the tallest hotel in the world. The VAULT has an exceptional view of Dubai and a crazy, mad ass vibe. (4) Hit ATMOSPHERE, the bar at the top of the worlds tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. Dubai is the luxury capital of the world. It's amazing but small so I don't think anyone needs more than 5 or 6 days for tourist trip. |

Unless you mean that 30+ is amazing instead of -20, then yeah, for sure, but in general - few degrees too much. I mean just imagine 30+ (so what, 31, 32, 34 etc) and super sunny in Canada or in Scotland. The sentiment from almost anybody you met would be - damn, it is so hot. Etc. |
Ive been there around 8 times (what happens when your girl's family is from there)
Anyway there is a lot of garbage advice on this thread. First of all, lets discuss weather.. Dubai gets super hot in the summer, I mean hotter than arizona and you feel like someone is blowing a hair dryer in your face all day.. I suggest you go in cooler months.. Before you go check a weather average for that month and see if you can handle it.. Ive also been there twice during rainy season and it was crappy and cold and dubai even got flooded that year.. Check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_Dubai and based on your tolerance for heat you can decide when to visit. I prefer winter months myself as it is cool and a light sweat shirt will keep you warm, but ive also gone in the summer where it is nice and you can go to the beach, etc. Secondly, alcohol is served in basically every club/hotel. Lots of clubs are inside the hotels.. Ive actually been drunk there tons of times, lots of fun.. Intercontinental hotel festival city, park hyatt, and grand hyatt are nice hotel choices as well.. Since its your first time, I suggest you go during warmer months and do the following: RENT A CAR( I SUGGEST SIXT car rental from the airport.. They are great and have nice/cheap mercedes C/E class with GPS) Dune Bashing, Dune Buggying, Desert Safari, Burg Khalifa(tallest building in the world), Visit gold souk, visit dubai maill, mall of emirates, go indoor skiing as well, go indoor skydiving, visit the aquarium at the mall.. Just google any of these things and you will learn about it and where to do it.. Basic rules: Dubai is a weird place.. They want the tourists so they want to appear like a liberal city, but deep down just remember you are in the middle east. Dont fuck with any type of drugs, dont buy it, dont take it, dont use it, etc.. You will be fucked.. Dont also drink and drive.. Dont make out with your girl publicly (unless inside a club maybe.. I got yelled at a guy and threatened because my girl was HOLDING MY HANDS at a mall).. Apart from that, remember the locals own the place so dont insult any guy who is a local (you will know because they wear the muslim thingy whatever its called, the dress type of stuff with sandals.. ) Its probably not somewhere I would want to live as there's a lot of human abuse (they bring in cheap asian laborers/maids, pay them peanuts and seize their passports, etc). There's also a big disparity between rich and poor.. A poor indian worker may make $500 a month, while a rich local guy may blow $500 for a parking spot at a night out of town.. Its that crazy, while in the club i saw someone order champaigne worth $500,000 right in front of and it was just him and two russian girls partying.lol There are also a lot of hookers all over the place, and many people there are hypocrites.. They pretend like they are holy but at night they retreat to their villas and snort coke and bang hookers :) Be safe.. ask any questions |
way too many stories outta those areas for me

I also recommend dinner at Amal in the Armani hotel, best Indian food I ever tasted. |

I use to be there as stopover when I go to Hong Kong for example. I suggest 2 o 3 days. Never in boreal summer. It's a nice place, safe and with tons of things to do.
Sky Dubai is great. People is cool, you wont have any problem there, just respect the rules and have common sense. https://www.tripadvisor.com.ar/Attra..._of_Dubai.html :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup |

"Reem Al Bawadi" (which is on Sheikh Zayed Road, the main road of Dubai) This one is famous in all of Dubai. They have nice comfy sofas and you can smoke bongs here (if you're into that). The food and decor is amazing and it wont break the bank either. |
What's the Gay scene like in Dubai? Worth the trip?

The heat problem is in the summer months, when it goes above 40°C often - plus there's the humidity. I haven't been in the summer, but apparently people don't even go to the beach on such hot days, only in the evening. |

December will average around 26°C (ish) and is ideal because you can enjoy the Christmas celebrations and the new year fireworks which are always spectacular. Dubai isn't insanely expensive and it offers the whole range of hotels from the very cheap to 7 star and none of which is particularly far from the central area (Sheikh Zayed Road). If you want to know some suggestions, feel free to ask... |

Gee that sounds AWESOME, booking my ticket now. Been there for business as I had to go, but I fundamentally have a problem going to a place that strips basic human rights just so I can see a shiny new mall. Would never live there. Everything is fine and dandy with the silly attitude of 'oh don't worry, everyone does it' until you piss off the wrong towelhead, then you'll wish you never heard the name dubai. |

You can drink as much as you want as long as you do it in the right places. There are escorts and hookers all over the place in Dubai, the clubs and bars are full of them. There is one down by the marina which is always absolutely packed with them, I forget the name but it has a reputation for it. A large contingent of the freelance girls are Russian and you'll find a large number of the hotel occupants in Dubai are Russians. It's also a popular destination for Russians in a general way as a holiday destination. I find its a nice addition to the environment to see lots of sexy Russians floating around ... |

I would rather spend a weekend in Tijuana.
A place devoted to that sort of ostentatious material wealth and supported through essentially a modern form of indenture bordering on slavery just holds zero appeal.:2 cents: |
You couldn't pay me enough money to go anywhere near that region of the globe...even to the so called "civilized" areas.

"Gay and lesbian travelers, both singles and couples, should be aware that Dubai's gay scene is largely underground, as homosexuality is viewed as a crime, and the city's Criminal Investigation Division exerts considerable effort to seek out same-sex events and arrest participants. As such, gay and lesbian travelers should take appropriate precautions." |
Indeed, Bladewire, they are savages in terms of being civilized.

Why the fuck take a plane to the fucking desert of a Muslim country just to stay in a hotel to not get arrested for drinking or kissing or your chick wearing a skirt or tanktop? :1orglaugh |

You once had an alcohol prohibition in the US, so what of it? You once had a total countrywide ban on marijuana, so what of it? I'm not feeling very oppressed because I don't kiss my girl in public... (I don't kiss her in private :1orglaugh ) Respect the local laws and fucking get over it... Dubai is awesome! |

This. Speaking to a friend that lived there for several years told me of a time that him and his live-in gf had a fight (yelling match), neighbors of course called the cops. My friend tells me they asked 'who's that', and he answers 'my wife'. He said he got lucky because they didn't check papers. yes that's right, you legally cannot live with a woman unless it's your wife. You ask around and the idiots are like 'oh well everyone does it' or one special idiot told me 'ah you just forge some papers, no big deal'. Everything is 'you will be fine' until you're not. That's called being a dummy. |
