Remember in weeks 5-6 everyone was thinking the Vikings making the playoffs was a lock? Yeah about that, that's out the window. They were the only unbeaten team going into week 7, now they're not even in the conversation, along with last year's Super Bowl runners-up the Carolina Panthers who last night finally found a way to win a game.

In the pool it's a tight race as we get ever nearer to the playoffs, but the top 10 are opening up and a few are distancing themselves. Still anybody's race though.

Ah week sixteen, the final week where playoff run games really matter. Some interesting results though... like the Cards showing everyone that the Seahawks may not quite be the powerhouse Super Bowl team they were in recent times.
CLEVELAND scored their first win of the entire season. Jacksonville got a win finally,
as did the 49'ers. (Merry Christmas to me)

One week the Seahawks look like the best team to ever take a football field then the next week they struggle to even hike the ball and move it forward. I wouldn't want to face them in Seattle, but if they play like they did against the Cards, it will be a short playoff run. Of course, I think all the hope of we in the Raider Nation broke with Carr's leg.

They often do however show up in the playoffs with their 'A' game. Jury is still out on them this year but they definitely can be beaten, as the Cards so aptly showed.

You may be right. They're a good team though, so if their backup guy can sling with some accuracy..... you never know. As one TSN broadcaster put it, Carr's injury may well have transformed this team from a Super Bowl contender into a one-and-done.

Going to be an interesting playoffs.

Like I said a few weeks ago, this is the time of the season when coaches get fired. Last week it was the Bills ejecting sexy Rexy from their organization (Bills now have the longest running playoff drought (17 years) in the NFL), and this week the 49ers have just shown their coach and GM the door.

As for the teams that ARE in the playoffs, the Redskins fell short while the Packers not only made it but also secured home field. Giants are in. MIAMI is in.

And in the pool, this winner is the last of the weekly winners for this year... now it's a race through the playoffs to see who wins the title and top prizes.

Well the Wildcard games went down pretty much as most predicted... Raiders without their rising star QB got crunched by Houston; Seattle walluped Detroit both in score and with their loud stadium; Pittsburgh destroyed Miami; and the story of the weekend ? the Pack nailing a big win over a Giants team who beat the Cowboys twice in regular season play.

In the pool a few of you managed to jump a few places with the added points these playoff games bring. There's more of those ?extra points? on the table for next week's Div Playoffs as well.

Picking the games aside, I think we are going to have some very good, fun games this week.

That spread on the NE-Houston game is crazy!

I've seen spreads in past years on NE games as high as -19, and every time I get scared off by a high spread they've ended up covering. Every time. Well, except for the times I've gone with them... then they still win but don't cover.

In short, I hate the gaytriots. :D

As a Raider fan, I hate the gaytriots as well. The spreads can be crazy and I want to think to myself, "There is no way they beat the Texans, with the #1 defense in football, by at least 16," but, like you say, they always seem to find a way to cover these big spreads. It's a tough pick.

Feels like a flying leap of a high cliff when taking the underdog on some of these spreads.

I think I'm taking the leap on this one too. :winkwink:

.::Divisional Playoffs Week Update & Top 10
 

No one in the pool nailed all four of this week's games correctly. No one. Which is a testament to just how tough these picks were this year. I'd also love to add here that they were the most amazing set of Div. Playoff games ever, but I just can't. The Pats played possibly their worst game all year yet not only still won but still covered. Unreal. Atlanta played somewhat better but their win over Seattle was again into double digits.

Then came Sunday's games.... the Packers v Cowboys was THE GAME of the weekend in my book. Unbelievable back and forth, the comeback from an 18 point deficit by a rookie QB, the final last second FG to win it by the Pack, it was all there in this one. KC and the sunshine Steelers were good too, very close, questionable call near the end, but just didn't have the level of hype and pomp and circumstance that the game in Dallas had.

Two home teams won, two away teams won. No one ran the table.

All of which resulted in the pool having a new leader this week. The top 5 are now spread out across less than 50 points, and don't get too comfortable now because this week there may only be two games but it's 8x the points. Just like the NFL, one wrong move and you could be lunch.
