Those are two very different things. On one hand, we have a guy who is doctoring information in order to present a particular narrative that he wants to push. On the other. we had a bunch of news stations that were giving data by seemingly reliable sources and that data turned out to be inaccurate.
One is manipulating the news, the other was basically getting data that made an inaccurate prediction.
That said, the national polls turned out to be pretty accurate, it was some of the individual state polls that were off. The RCP average of polls had Clinton at +3.2 going into election day. She won the popular vote by 2 points. The nationwide poll is a poll of who people plan to vote for, not where they are voting from.
