All the brain power on Facebook would have a hard time blowing out a candle.

Problem solving skills and creative skills will continue to be well paid human jobs.

The is a future in subsistence farming for those with lower IQs. Criminals will became private prison labor -- making the low wage countries labor redundant.

MAGA ;)

Robbie 02-28-2017 01:44 PM

Last year when all the talk from the Democrat politicians was about raising the minimum wage and giving McDonald's workers $15 an hour to do unskilled labor...I said then that this was going to be the result and millions of people with no job skills would be unemployed.

But some of the "left" leaning people right here on GFY screamed about a "living wage" and all that other nonsense about this kind of unskilled labor.

I argued that an employer should only pay someone what they are worth and that this was going to lead to people pulling up to a touchscreen and ordering their food.

But no. They wouldn't listen.

And this is the result.
Common sense should have dictated that if a job could be done by teenagers in highschool at their first job ever...that if you price it out of existence you are going to destroy young people having the opportunity for their first paying job.

And so it is now happening. Congrats to the Democrats.

Barry-xlovecam 02-28-2017 02:29 PM

News alert: There is a New Republican administration and a Republican majority Congress.

Neither Republicans nor Democrats have anything to do with this -- this is called economic reality. This was going to happen regardless.

this is no surprise and it will happen more and more to these low paying jobs. The errors are fewer, the liability is lower the workers never tire or ask for vacation or get sick or just no show...My only surprise is that it has taken this long...combine this with drone technology and things will really change.....minimum wage plays only a tiny part if any part, look at the upsides and the downsides and its clear....my mother turns 80 this month and I just loaded ok google on to her phone she immediately said this would put all the fast food counter employees out of a job.... even she got it.

The times they are a changin'

Drivers who install the bridge transponder on to the windshields of their cars pay about $3.50 a trip. (EV's are free. Suck it ICE'ers. Ahem... )

It's also probably the most pristine roadway in the Montreal area. Totally smooth driving experience. Any roadwork is done immediately or late-night.

But yes, we'll all be replaced by robots or agents one day. Our only hope is to upload our brains to Facebook.

We have that here for years, it is called ENC. Basically you come to toll station, scanner scan your card on windshield , show you status of your account and bill you. It's like paying with contact less debit card.

Add to that driverless vehicles and the low skilled uneducated really are fucked.

What makes me laugh though is the 70 year old guy y'all decided would make a good president want to fight the battles of the 80's.

Coal and metal bashing left the west 30years ago. Miners, ship builders, heavy engineering, jesus that battle is long gone.

The orange baboon has to realise that he is fighting the wrong war with an out dated armory.

The vain old idiot is bringing an AR15 to a drone fight.

Trump has said that he and his staff didn't think he was gonna win. The polls were right and Hillary won by over 3 million votes!

Trump wasn't popular enough to win the majority because common sense people can see that he's a conman.

You have been whining about Trump since before he got elected, before he even did anything. You're going to continue to whine if things get better or not! Only thing you care about is if the democrats are in charge.

Only two weeks ago you said it wouldn't happen that robots replaced machines. Cause nobody would have money to spent if there is no work for people. So why are you worried? It won't happen acording to traditional economics.

Honestly, I kind of like the idea of robots running fast food joints. I cringe at the thought of having underpaid teens making my burger. Every time I bite into a big mac I think to my self "does this sauce feel a little more liquidy than usual?" and continue to finish eating.

This has little to do with the minimum wage. It will hit all wage sectors including yours.

With the future holding far fewer jobs. So why is the West so keen to allow more low-skilled workers enter and doing nothing about the increasing populations?

More advice on migration Mr Migrant ?

Its a good job we have experienced hands who really know the ins and outs of migrating. Otherwise we would be lost. Pissing in the wind as it were.

Thanks Mr Migrant.

where did i say it will not happen? i just said it is a bad idea.

sure it WILL happen - because this process is not a social process it is an economic process.
and it will make some people richer and MANY people poorer.

ok letīs do for a moment as this would be the one and only problem and letīs see how we can make automatism to work for prosperity.

i can imagine that someone BUYS a robot and send him to work instead he is going.
so the work is done by your OWN robot.
so far so good - but here we have now a few problems:

1. not everybody can buy a robot
2. there are people who can buy 2 or 3 or 4 or more robots.....

and suddenly we have no workers at all in the game - only COMPANIES because even the worker with an own robot is now a company what have to compete with his neighbor.

as the people who do not have robots do not have money to buy things, there are only the "companies" left to play the part of the consumer. but as this "robot companies" have too many robots (more than needed) they have to drop the price.
with dropping prices the wins are dropping - with dropping wins, people consume less - with less consumption less production........and so on

you can think as much as you want - if you are thinking in a box (local market) there will not be a winner.

you can not reap if you do not sow and you can not sow if you do not reap.

the one and only aspect in all is prosperity - not money. because money is just paper what is an equivalent to your productivity.
that means - that higher productivity leads to higher prosperity - but if you want this higher productivity you need circumstances what optimize every part of the production.
this can NEVER happen in a local market.
just forget about the wages - just take another example:

letīs say the escimos want to eat pinaples and they do not want to import them. it would cost them soooo much that it would never make sense.
in that case it is much better for them to import the pinapples from where they can grow cheap and sell in exchange ice cubes into that country.

what you have to realize is that work and pineapples are the same thing. work is a product and the pineapples are a product.

if you want to optimize that on a maximum you need the global options and you need to give if you want to take and you have to find out your role in that game.
unfortunately USA was only focused on one role: to produce the best weapons - thats why USA is a war company - and THAT is what you need to change.
you guys where able to fly to the moon - you should try to use your strong sites smarter as only with wars and creating hate.

I figured this shit out when I was 10. Americans start wars to make money and cull the ranks of the unemployed (then 1965). Today, American soldiers cost $2.1 million man and equipment. America has made progress -- we have perfected wasting money on war ...

So what happens? A dozen knuckle-draggers hijack 3 commercial airliners and commit the largest attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor.

Trump is so full of shit -- but I know how to make money off his stupidity because I have already lived through that stupidity a few times already.
