This is not something special for your area. This happens everywhere. This is Moscow 2017:

But when you are sitting in a reinforced concrete building and watching flying trees through a window, you don't even hear the sound. You just think "how good that I'm home now". All people who die, die on the streets. Nobody here dies at home and there is no evacuation in case of hurricanes and flooding, because they can't hurt you when you're behind the massive walls.

As I said above, just stop making carton houses and build the capital ones.

Get out now. Even if you have to drive North and sleep in your car.

^ Exactly. I've lived just south of central Florida towards the coast for over 20 years, been through a dozen major hurricanes. The only inconvenience I've experienced was everyone panicking and buying up all the batteries/water/gas at the same time. It's amazing how many people live in mobile homes and particle board/stick built houses in FL. I also think the media exaggerates these things for more viewers. For me Irma will be just another hurricane party. :)

I've really always wondered why the fuck people build houses from wood frames in places that have hurricanes like that. Pretty much whole europe has houses from concrete blocks and you cannot even here the wind outside like you said.

Please God, our Father in heaven,
allow Irma to stop over Haiti for a couple of days
and like a hard-working Latino helper,
compel Thy holy powerwash to purify the wretched island of its subhuman vermin,
wash out all traces of their demonic existence,
and once again make the Pearl of the Caribbean available for HUMAN habitation.

In your Son's name.
Amen

Mother nature sure is relentless this year

Tasty1 09-06-2017 07:23 AM

It hit Holland already (Saba, Sint Maarten, and that other dutch Island). Just some damage and life goes on. Probably it will cost a few million repairs and a few million that will disappear in the pockets of some officials.

I woke up this morning in s. Florida to see that gas is about $2.95/gal and no water anywhere lol but gas stations and they are selling it by the bottle for $2+/ea... Irma is gonna blow right by us and all of this is for nothing.

I mean the storm isn't supposed to come till this weekend and it's not even Thursday yet and shit's getting unreal down here.

The Caribbean should be for the leisure industry exclusively and not a permanent home domesticated humanoids that could go savage at any moment.

The tone of your question implies you know, and wanted to show how wrong I was; so, you have a number?

Fact is, it takes 3 big FL counties to equal Houston, and no, they are not all evacuating and they know it will be a problem if they did.

The Florida Keys are under mandatory evacuation, that's 80,000.

Your point was?

Florida preps for mass evacuations, possible gridlock - CNN

oh give it up, Trump should have done more before he did for Houston & all of Texas, as I said in the first place!

Trumpīs to blame for any death & the mistreatment of people in Texas due to his late arrival as a president & when he did, he only wanted political dominance as usual!

I hope everyone survives this next hurricane in Florida :(

Jane, you ignorant slut. The President doesn't call for evacuations and he approved disaster relief 6 days before Houston was hit.

I also don't understand why Americans (people of a rich country) live in paper houses, especially if that's a dangerous zone. Why don't they use concrete? A typical house here can stand a nuclear blast actually. The first one on the front line will be smashed, the second one behind it will be seriously destroyed, but the 3rd one will stay. Also (just as a side effect) a single massive wall decreases the x-ray radiation in 10x-20x times. Two walls will decrease it twice more. And the reinforced concrete doesn't burn too...

These houses can stand -40C and nobody will be hurt here like in this movie. A usual winter temperature in my region is -10C..-20C (sometimes -30C) and... I have windows opened and wear shorts only (I don't even wear a t-shirt), because it's always +25C inside.

People in SF don't panic. The news media panics. Good fodder for the evening news. OMG, they're all gonna fucking die? Mandatory evac does not mean you have to leave, just that there will be no cops, ambulances, firemen, etc to bail your ass out. Nobody wants to go through the storm in their car on the freeway out of gas. We just hunker down and wait. Fuck it.

According to your article, Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties alone has six million people.... Seems to be more than Houston. A lot more.

Yes, 6 million is more than 2 million and they are not evacuating 6 million people in Florida.

25,000 left the Keys.

And you are comparing one city to 3 counties, but try Greater Houston at 6.5 million.

Why would people in Florida want a home that's keeping in heat? I'd think they'd want the opposite :D

Seems you didn't learn physics in the school. A possibility of keeping heat and cold is the same thing. It works the same way in both directions :2 cents:

gnawledge 09-07-2017 09:26 PM

Us Floridians get a lot of false information from meteorologists guessing which way it will travel and using spaghetti models.

It's frightening when the animal comes out of humans when they know they're impending doom.

Flood zones, ruin, everything is fucked here. I'm on the west coast and it's coming for us.

In Norway the houses are made of wood
With turf on roofs for the reasons you mentioned. Concrete does keep things cold for a few days, but if you have more than 3-4 days in a row of hot weather it starts to become like a pizza oven.

We use air conditioning for that. Electricity is cheap here. We pay about $0.08 for 1 kW⋅h by day and $0.03 by night :pimp

Branson started a company Virgin, a cheap airliner that made millions of people fly. He fucked up the atmosphere with more CO2 than Trump. Branson is more resoponsible for that Hurricane than Trump, if Global Warming would be real. And you support Branson... Gary gary gary, learn to have a wider view. He made billions heating up the earth.
