?The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations,? the NRA and its lobbying arm said in a joint statement.

?Despite the fact that the Obama administration approved the sale of bump fire stocks on at least two occasions, the National Rifle Association is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law,? it said.

Obama forgot to ban the elastic band as well.

I love how the NRA is trying to look a like a hero for "allowing" congress to consider outlawing something which should be a no-brainer. Great job guys. The NRA should be outlawed.

As long as they're around, the USA will never drop it's "good ole boy" persona.

VRPdommy are you an American citizen?

Whether you like it or not (many do not) the 2nd Amendment guarantees a citizen's right to posses firearms -- the courts have made lots of precedence of this.

There is no constitutional right for ordinary civilians (not in the military (or state militia)) to possess certain weapons that can be used in warfare or mass killings.

Congress can legislate reasonable gun control laws that ARE constitutional, Presidents can sign the bills into law, and if constitutional, the courts will uphold the law.

That is the way it works -- politics aside.

Alcohol and Cigarettes kill a LOT more people than guns do. But in America you can self-destruct legally like everywhere in the world. The age restriction is only an attempt to allow *responsible* adults to use Alcohol and Cigarettes :upsidedow

I am a proud American Citizen that believes in the Constitution and the rule of law and one that possesses more than a dozen firearms myself. Never supported the NRA.
I spend my political clout in a thing we call VOTING.
I don't need a concealed carry permit to defend my own property.
And I doubt you can give me a lesson on the constitution.

I have never been in fear of the government taking my firearms. Just in fear of some nut with a gun trying to steal my arms and property to buy drugs.
So I am in full support of the 2nd amendment. But not a member of the NRA.
The whole argument has just been a money making operation and the cash flow is good.

Court presidents has been the only method of rule making because Congress, who is constitutionally disposed to be the creator of law, fails to do it's job and legislate.

So if you wish to make a sub-class of American that is 'responsible', then the argument also works with firearms.

Don't hand me the BS that cigarettes kill more people than firearms. For if you get past the propaganda of all of it you will find that man-made chemicals are doing most of the killing and it's hardly regulated and nobody goes to jail for the lack of money to enforce any rules left in the FDA or EPA for it. BTW, the cigarette co's got in trouble for adding chemicals to the tobacco, not for the tobacco. Read the court dockets.

Show me where the right to own a gun is a higher guarantee than for someone else's right to live. Insurance and lenders can discriminate on you over 'risk' then that president has been made. And the Government has the right to regulate commerce and discriminate on risk.
The 'bill of rights' has more than one part to it. I suggest you read it all.
And the constitution gives plenty of right's until they infringe on the rights of others.
So they always have been a 'within limitations' type of rights.

Nothing 'meaningful' will be done on this issue till many more people die and we all have plenty more stupid arguments once again. Because that's where the money is on it.
It's a political tool for power at present. That's all.

But I fear boycotts and other social disruptions until something meaningful is done.
Could get very messy if there is a copy cat shooting soon ! But I hate to see it and I know somehow it's coming.

Funny how all those that talk constitution on 2nd amendment get pretty wound-up when a black guy exercises his right of dissent, and kneels during the national anthem, and he only does this for reasons to draw attention to others that the constitution has been ignoring.
Somehow forgotten. Go Figure !
I guess it says that they do not want to stand-up for all of the bill of rights and not for eveyone. And that is un-American.

HOW TRUE !
But remember they did not count as a whole person but 3/5ths of a person and their owner voted on their behalf,
and yet women could not vote at all.
