I read this story earlier, while a great story, wondering why a homeless person would put his last $20 in the gas when a fiver would do to get her to a petrol station, I do wonder if the whole thing was a set up. But i´m sure who they are and their backgrounds have been checked, so if it´s legit, damn nice & amazing story :thumbsup

On the GoFundMe page, in the image gallery, one of his friends posted a screencap from his Facebook from 2012 where he mentioned helping a different stranded motorist with a flat tire and kids in the car. Evidently he's been helping people for a long time.

this is not a lovely story. It's a prime example how people are extremely gullible and dish out their hard earned money they worked their asses off for to some random scam campaign with a rehashed sob story.

I was talking to a friend of mine and this campaign came up. Turns out there was another exact same story, only the gasoline was a train ticket. This turned out to be a scam, confirming my instinct that this is a hoax.

A simple way to make people donate, make the donaters feel special like they did something good and share it on social media to show their friends how good they are, baiting more of their soft naive friends into funding this scam campaign.

You worked for your money. Think about the hours and effort you put in to earn an honest buck. If this scam story would be true, why didn't she give him a reasonable amount that fits the spent $20 and the effort, in private?

I got a call from my grandma, she was out of air and needed her medicine. I rushed to her while calling 911. When i drove up to her house i saw they hadn't arrived yet. I parked my car but there were old fashioned meters only accepting coins, which i didn't have on me. A homeless man who saw it, spent his last euro for my parking meter so i would not get a ticket while i was taking care of my poor old grandmother.

Every fibre of me tells me it's a scam the moment i read this this thread. When i heard this identical storyline was used before in scams it was a confirmation of what i already knew. Scammers are known to be using known tactics to fuck people, using storylines which are proven to have the most success in the past (therefore are more or less the same) is one of those tactics.

The homeless guy was on GMA this morning. He is a certified marine vet. His Facebook is filled with years of military posts etc. too.
