I agree that the pricing is insane. Why is it so much? I don't know. But I think there is no way that Trump is personally involved in the decision to make this upgrade. These are likely operational requirements that don't change from one president to the next and he is just told that it needs to happen.

These are not refrigerators you can buy at your local store. I would imagine they are a one of a kind that have to be designed from scratch and custom built. It's expensive enough to have a refrigerator custom designed, and it's another thing to have a large refrigerator custom designed for an aircraft. It has to be much lighter than a normal refrigerator, and also able to operate on an aircraft.

I don't care who is in office - we still have these expenses and we still have to pay for them.

The Secret Service is usually the ones we question. For Bush and even Clinton they built special buildings on their properties to house Secret Service agents. For Obama they built guard houses outside of his condo in Chicago. For Trump the Secret Service is leasing office space in Trump Tower. These expenses are part of protecting the president.

The refrigerators are no different. They too protect the president. Imagine if one of these refrigerators blow up while in mid flight?
