Nearly one year after his inauguration, President Donald Trump?s approval rating sits at 35 percent, according to a new poll released Tuesday by CNN, a historic low for a commander in chief in the December of his first year in office.

The 35 percent approval rating is Trump?s worst mark yet in CNN polling. Fifty-nine percent of respondents said they disapprove of the way Trump has handled his job as president. Before Trump, no president dating back to Dwight Eisenhower ever had an approval rating lower than 49 percent in December of the first year in office

you really can not take a CNN poll as representative.

in fact trump is at the moment quite popular as you can see in rasmussen polls what are
more neutral.

this is an effect of his tax cut and the people see the short term effect (and it was clear that there will be a short term effect).
2018 will also be a good tax income year for USA - not because of the tax cuts - it is because of the money what was hoarded and parked offshore for centuries.
2019 you will see the real effect of what he did because the trillions are then in the country and nothing is parked what can come back.

til than the fed will rise interest a few times and that will make the dollar strong - what is the last thing an export nation needs. in the stockmarket you will see the decrease already in this year.

2019 is the year of the truth and at itīs end will be a very big bang - much bigger than every financial crisis before.
so sooner or later all americans can see it an than he will not have an approval rate of 35% - he will not even have one of 25%.

and if you ask me - thatīs the perfect timing because with this crisis he will face he will be gone before the next elections.

Haha you changed your tune from last year when you said the tax cuts and repatriation of money would be a disaster. Now it will have our economy booming till 2019.. then the wheels will fall off? LOL

I will bump this in 2019 when the market and economy are roaring.

I would trust a Fox poll as much as I would a CNN poll...both are skewed.

Rasmussen has him at 50% and Rasmussen is legit :thumbsup

I'm pretty sure that NO poll in this day and age is "legit".

The country is too big and too diverse for a poll of 500 to maybe 1,500 people that are taking a cold call from some pollster to be able to reflect the opinions of 330 million people.

The REAL poll took place at the ballot box.

I'm pretty sure that every poll out there is just designed to try and influence how people think instead of reflect what the entire nation really thinks.

I look at it like this. We are a little over one year into his presidency and it seems like there are two schools of people. Those who think he is doing a good job and those who hate his guts.

He got about 63 million votes total. I'm going to assume for every person who voted for him there is another person who likes him so I would guess there are somewhere around 126 million people who like and support him which is about 40% of the population so IMO his approval rating would likely be somewhere in that range. So far, there hasn't been some huge event that could change it one way or the other so I think it is going to hover around here for a while unless something really good or really bad happens.

Robbie 02-27-2018 08:18 PM

All I know is that the polls are useless. And even trying to calculate how many people we think "like" him is useless.
None of it really means anything at all.

These kinds of polls are all about the "horse race" aspect of politics. And back in the "old days" when people had no access to information and got everything from their newspaper and the three networks of the time...the polls probably INFLUENCED people on who they should vote for.

I think the 2016 election pretty much showed that any polling is now obsolete. People not only make up their own minds, but the majority of folks keep who they are going to vote for a private thing.

The only people who would even stay on the phone from a cold call pollster would be someone with either an extreme "right" or "left" agenda.
Normal people would hang up immediately.

Nobody likes cold calls...especially when you are either working OR spending time at home relaxing with your family.
