It's people like this who's been pushing for this because they see ££ signs, fuck all to do with protecting kids.
They all look dodgy fuckers.
I wonder if they're still smiling now there's a chance it's gonna to go tits up.

If I were you, I'd be VERY cautious about who I call dodgy fuckers on that pic here...

I don't know you and visiting your site, I don't know what kind of business you wish to accomplish here, but THIS is not a good path to success IMHO :thumbsup

Most of these guys are very well respected and liked members of this industry and community ... I wish you the best and maybe attain this level some day :thumbsup

Just saying :2 cents:

PS: Fitty AV regulations. I beat Julius, again :winkwink:

If a person is already using VPN then he or she is not in need for another one...

Make a soft tour and geo-target UK visitors by sending it to them.

It is not illegal to promote VPN, but it is illegal to contour the law thru one to avoid verifying yourself if your local/state/country law requires you to do so... So yeah, I see your point here, but the webmaster doing so would then be encouraging his visitor to contour it.. Still shady IMO..

UK age laws coming soon right?

Check out AVSecure and to hekp, here are our thoughts on the delay:
The effective “go-live” date for age verification, under the UK Digital Economy Act 2017, has been delayed. It was originally envisaged for end of April 2018 but is now scheduled for later this year. Due to required governmental processes the BBFC cannot release their approved guidance before September 2018. They then need to allow time for verification companies to adopt their final regulations. Discussions with the BBFC and DCMS indicate that the likely start date will now be between October 1st and November 31st this year.
Whilst we appreciate that this may cause frustration for some, it does allow AVSecure to deliver a final product that surpasses our initial expectations. We believe it will offer even greater benefits to all our users.
A 4-week public consultation period starts in this coming fortnight, where we expect many of the issues that have been documented in the press to be aired and further considered. This should result in improvements and additions to be made to existing rules to enhance consumer protection.
It also allows AVSecure time for deeper testing with our partners, which can only be a good thing. However, whilst you can relax a little, we do not expect the law to experience further delays.
Once the public consultation has been concluded there is a Parliamentary process required on the final guidance, so we suggest you prepare your company to install AVSecure by end of August/early September. This will allow plenty of time to educate your visitors and offer them the chance to verify before the effective date if they wish to do so. We can make our product available earlier for those that prefer but wanted to give you our thoughts on a what we believe is a suitable integration timetable, so that you don’t feel pressured or rushed.
We also envisage significant mainstream press and PR, associated with the Q4 go-live, will commence in September when Parliament returns from its summer recess.
From our perspective this delay is welcome as it allows orderly education of consumers and gives you extra time to consider opportunities that the age verification law may provide.
It is also worth noting that the success of AVSecure to date has been superb. We anticipate our users to be between 20-30 million at launch and believe we have the most privacy centric and robust age verification solution available.

Please keep checking our website for updates and further information or contact us at any time.

Best wishes,

Steve

I said they "look" like dodgy fuckers. I've never met any of them, perhaps they're all humble, straight up, fantastic chaps but in that pic I got the impression that they "looked dodgy" and bit smug with themselves that they're about to get a big payout on the back of other webmasters and surfers and will do or say anything to push this through - after all they got a lot vested in it to allow it to flop.

Nick, Hit me up on Skype, I can give you a Demo and show you how it looks for the surfer :thumbsup

We at agechecked.com already have a working platform with clients for Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Knives (which are already regulated/verified), we also have a few adult clients who jumped in and choose to comply (within actual guidelines) before the law comes into an effect.

Free to install and the webmaster to use - Free for the surfer to use, or for highest privacy level, surfer buys a card in newsagent or offlicence and newsagent verifies age at purchase - Then they use the number from that card and tha iDs them.

No personal data being uploaded at all.

this for Brits, i´ve seen avsecure cards in newsagents for a good year or so, they´re easy to get and the proof is simple and easy to apply and receive :thumbsup

Anyone worried there might be a conflict of interest for companies running adult sites and also offering Age Verification?

What if a company does your Age Verification and also sets cookies for every major cam site, so you lose all of your affiliate signups, or something like that?

mikesouth 03-06-2019 07:02 AM

At first glance this looks like a golden opportunity for porners to me. A chance to revive the industry by crippling the tube sites. IF porners were smart (generally they arent) we would work with legislators to do this and do it in a way that it does help keep out kids, protects privacy and as a by product harms the stolen content providers. Since MindGeek is the essential owner of AVN, XBiz and The FSC dont look for this to get any traction there....but it could be a way to make lemonade. For all the PR bullshit MindGeek releases about what kind of porn people in every state watch they know that over one third of pornhub users are under the age of 15 but you dont see that in their press releases

In a nutshell :

As Site owner, Affiliate, Blogs, etc..
You have to be compliant or ISPs from UK might be obligated to cut your site from UK surfers, and you can also face charges and fines (TBD).
For any ancillary provider (Billing, Ad Network, etc..)
If your client is not complying, you might be asked to cut off your services for that client until they comply.. Which is a lost of your revenues with them.
Ex: Biller : As long as they're not complying, you can't bill their UK traffic anymore... Ad Network, you can't expose their ads to UK surfers... BTW, Ad Networks, hit me up, we have $$ for you :)

That being said, Alastair (CEO) and Sanjeet from AgeChecked know everything about it, as I'm more on the Marketing and Events Management side for AgeChecked.com, but like most at this stage, I'm still reading and learning. The Regulator himself still have a few questions he can't answer clearly... Dating seams to be still in a grey zone ... Same for the Texts (Vanilla Photo with very Hardcore Text, they don't know yet...).

For those of you who will be in Phoenix, I invite you to book a meeting with us using this link here : https://agechecked.youcanbook.me/

You have mail! :)

The issue of censorship of legal material is bigger than a business opportunity. The UK doesn't have free speech protection, but there will always be people in the United States who will fight to the end to keep the government from censoring constitutionally protected speech. As a journalist, that's good for you.

I appreciate the compliment but i never considered my self a journalist..just an op ed writer, and while I detest government regulation in general I do see the writing on the wall and I do like the idea of minimizing accessibility of porn to minors I believe the industry could and should work with legislators to implement this without restraining free speech and as importantly without compromising privacy...yes its a tall orderbut the by product would be a financial boon to what is left of a once thriving industry

So much political nonsense these days. Especially here in Europe.

Brad Mitchell 03-06-2019 09:39 AM

I am supporting and recommend AV Secure to site owners. It's free to consumers and site owners. We have tested the technology and integration methods, concluding that that since no personal information is stored about surfers, this is the best solution for our customers to keep their clients to themselves.

Doesn't Britain have enough to worry about with the whole Brexit debacle? Maybe they should focus on THAT instead of this half-assed/we-don't-know-how-to-implement-shit bullshit.

Oui? Oui? ('Oui' is French so that pisses of the Brits - yay - and it's also the name of a classic porno mag!)

Then every site that sends me adverts for VPN is breaking the law. Of course you need to word the ad so it doesn't mention UK Age Verification.

It would be beautiful and save this industry from further decline if all sites were forced to put dangerous, graphic, porn, etc images and videos behind Age Verification processes. Like a credit card.

So it's a load of government time and tax payers money spent on reversing the tide. And it will utterly fail.

But of course you think it's a great law and way to sell agechecked.com

So do you think all porn should be uncensored or just the porn you sell? </sarcasm>

Good to know that you've tested it and didn't see any problems.
