If you were pushing a product on GFY, and I created an account named Fat_Panda and posted products or services that went to a different site, I would be trying to scam your customers. If I offered to sell it to you for $$, I would be scamming you.

I get what you're saying though. Maybe a better phrase would have been "A GFY users is trying to fuck me over".

Screwing over people that you know in a forum community, and targeting their specific business by using the same business name, and holding a version of their domain name hostage, is different than taking the domain and reselling it for a profit.

It's not business as usual. It's vindictive, spiteful & petty.

I've made a lot of money snatching up expired domains. I've snatched up thousands and thousands of them. I'm sitting on like 200+ sites that i need to unload right now. I don't think we would be here if some random dude grabbed his domain. This was a calculated move by a user here who has ran through dozens of nics and has been accused of serious amounts of fraud.

And his site gone offline After he tried to sell me the domain .com for $500/ $250 and finaly $150 I have always tell him :321GFY :321GFY :321GFY

He tried to make a review site with it but it was a REAL Shit 6 reviews LOL i think 2 sentence each thats about it :1orglaugh

Just investing or speculating in domains does not make that person or entity a cybersquatter. Cybersquatting is registering domains containing trademarks and trying to sell them to the trademark holder. If the domains that are registered are generic, descriptive, suggestive or arbitrary words or phrases with no level of distinctiveness, then there is no cybersquatting.

With regards to Mark, it's his own fault he let the domain drop. Registrars send out multiple email notices prior to expiration and even provide a typical 30-45 day grace period prior to changing the status to RedemptionPeriod. If it was important to him, he would have 1) renewed it in advance for up to 10 years (.com/.net) 2) maintained a valid email (as required by ICANN if it was .com/.net) to receive renewal notices, 3) kept a list of his domains with the registrar and expiration and 4) set the domain for auto-renew.

This is true. I forget the exact amount since I've been out of the domain game for a few years, but they don't always go your way and you could potentially be wasting money. There is a reason why many of these companies that buy up expired domains put a price tag of $1450 on your domain name. It's not an arbitrary amount.

Good catch. This is often how domains do not get renewed. You get a new credit card and forget to update the expiration date with the registrar. Renew does not go through.
