Let's say Mueller found this payment, and is trying to tie it into the Stormy Daniels investigation. One hundred and fifty thousand dollars is a large donation, and very similar to the one hundred and thirty thousand dollar payoff to keep a porn star quiet. Mueller passes this information over to the FBI in NY and they start a new investigation, which resulted in the raid today.

Even if Trump fires Mueller, there is already a second investigation started.

My understanding is that Mueller found some information pertaining to Cohen and a possible crime during the course of his investigation and he turned it over to the FBI who then ran with it. Mueller and his team appear to have nothing to do with this, at least at the moment.

I have not seen Trump more unhinged and running scared as he was today. Guilt and fear is protruding out of every cell of his body.

Not at all. If a NDA violates the law, it's not legal at all.

In this case, if Candidate Trump made a payment via his attorney it might be perfectly legal. However, if Candidate Trump's attorney made the payment out of his own pocket to benefit the candidate, that is considered an political contribution, which is in fact illegal. Of course, then the attorney has violated the law as well as Trump (lol don't tell me Trump didn't know about a $130k payoff).

Now... If it turns out the payment did not come from the attorney's pocket and instead came from a foreign country, that too is in violation of the law.

Then again if the NDA is an attempt to cover up some other illegal act - such as adultery - well that might make it illegal too.

No matter what happened, laws were broken.
