US backs off on military exercises.

nice work America.

May 16 (UPI) --
The decision to downscale the drills was reached between U.S. Forces Korea Commander Vincent Brooks and South Korean Defense Minister Song Young-moo Wednesday, after North Korea criticized the joint exercise Max Thunder being held in the South, News 1 reported.

Technically, and if your mindset is TRUMP = BAD no matter what, you could still see this as a quid pro quo because even though the deal was being set in place back before he was President, it still is reaching fruition now. However, you'd have to ignore everything else that these deals entail and just reach for "muh Trump sucks" - which, of course, they will. And trying to explain these things to those kinds of people - eh, waste of time.

LOL. Who the fuck is Stephen Collinson?

No, the Democrats do not loose "almost eveything" if NK settles with Trump. It would be a great success for him - for everyone - but it still wouldn't change reality. We are one year into his administration, he has accomplished nothing, he is knee deep into the largest investigation we have ever had into a sitting US President, and almost everyone Trump has hired (You know, "all the best people") are surrounded by problems and scandals.

The only thing Trump has going for him is the economy, but let's be honest here Trump was handed a PERFECT economy with over seventy months of unemployment dropping. So far Trump hasn't fucked it up yet, which is a pretty low bar to set.

Trump hasn't accomplished anything. He promised to fix the VA - Did you hear the last report about Jared fixing the software they use? Did we fix the problems in the Middle East? Nope, just made it a lot worse - How many Palistinians just died in the past 48 hours? It seems the Trump administration cannot make it through a single meeting without there being drama - insulting someone like McCain and then not even bothering to say they are sorry.

Not a single damn good thing has come out of the White House.

dyna mo 05-16-2018 11:08 AM

Rochard, get updated on the fight against ISIS. Trump removed the politics dictating our fight and we are now winning. That's simply a fact.

xClips Jim 05-16-2018 11:13 AM

Snip retarded assumption Trump hasn't accomplished anything. One can only assume he means nothing that he approves of.

Has anyone noticed the same people that cried "snowflakes" and reveled in the jokes aimed at Sarah Huckabee Sanders are melting over John McCain jabs?

Oh, it's because they decide who can be made fun of and who can't - I forgot.

Where are we winning against ISIS? Last I recalled Trump let Russia take over the ISIS fight in the ME and elsewhere.

here's another article on it

"David French, an Iraq War veteran and a writer for National Review, describes the devastation of ISIS:

“Now ... the caliphate is a smoking ruin. It courted conflict with the great powers. It craved Armageddon, and it got its wish. No one knows ISIS’s exact casualty figures, but its fighters have died by the tens of thousands. I’ve spoken to men who were directly involved in the air campaign, and they have told me that the public doesn’t yet understand the sheer scale and ultimate effectiveness of the American attacks.”

You’d think such an overwhelming American victory over such a vicious enemy would have generated more attention and celebration at home. "

It's because the people paying these particular brainwashed Muslims for jihad also own the media - which are coincidentally Anti-Trump. So they don't tell us.

It's all connected.

While there is no real checks and balances other than his advisers suggesting he not launch there are at least a few people between the POTUS and the actual missile launching. For example, on land-based missiles it takes a team of two people with keys to launch it If one refuses, that missile won't launch.

There are stop gaps put in place so the POTUS can't just wake up one morning, be pissed off, and launch a couple of nukes at a target. He has the power to do it, but there are a lot of people who could prevent it.

Sure thing orphan.

Trump "has unchecked authority to order a preventive nuclear strike against any nation he wants with a single verbal direction to the Pentagon war room, a nuclear command and control expert wrote."

Could Anyone Stop Trump from Launching Nukes? The Answer: No

Here's a question rarely raised before Donald Trump ran for the White House: If the president ordered a pre-emptive nuclear strike, could anyone stop him?

WASHINGTON (AP) — Here’s a question rarely raised before Donald Trump ran for the White House: If the president ordered a pre-emptive nuclear strike, could anyone stop him?

The answer is no.

Not the Congress. Not his secretary of defense. And by design, not the military officers who would be duty-bound to execute the order.

As Bruce Blair, a former nuclear missile launch officer and expert on nuclear command and control, has put it, “The protocol for ordering the use of nuclear weapons endows every president with civilization-ending power.” Trump, he wrote in a Washington Post column last summer, “has unchecked authority to order a preventive nuclear strike against any nation he wants with a single verbal direction to the Pentagon war room.”

Or, as then-Vice President Dick Cheney explained in December 2008, the president “could launch a kind of devastating attack the world’s never seen. He doesn’t have to check with anybody. He doesn’t have to call the Congress. He doesn’t have to check with the courts.”

Then educate me.

This says there are several steps that must be followed. Yes, nobody has the "legal" authority to stop him, but there are several people in between Trump and the actual triggering mechanism that fires the missile. They could simply refuse to carry out the order. As mentioned in the piece I link to, if we were launching 50 missiles, one person not going through with it wouldn't do much but stop one missile. However, if were were only firing a few, it could be effective.

My point in all of this is that Trump doesn't just have a switch he can flip and start firing missiles. If he wakes up one day pissed off at South Africa and wants to nuke them there are people who could physically stop him from doing it. They might be breaking the law to stop him but they could.

I apologize for being curt with you, I was dealing with the anti-American and got carried away.

Your point is valid, trump isn't in the silo or on the submarine but you're discounting the extreme importance placed on following orders and chain of command within the MIlitary. The system is setup to preempt another attack from nuke country, so yes, he couldn't simply order a nuke attack on SA. He certainly could on NK or Russia. The military is based on following orders, not questioning them. That's a court marshall.

Xi emphasizes friendship 'sealed in blood' with North Korea

Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with visiting North Korean ruling party officials and emphasized the importance of advancing a friendship "sealed in blood" between the two countries, the North's state-run media reported Thursday.

In the end, no matter how many people are needed to actually launch the missiles or pass the orders on, there is no doubt that Trump (and Putin) both have the power in their hands to destroy then entire human race. It's pretty scary that one person can have that kind of power.

One man, the President, does not have the power to launch a nuke attack against anyone at any time. He also does not have the power to prevent a launch. The world is led to believe that a President, and only he, has this power.
