Well, when parents anywhere in the USA break the law, social services do indeed take children away from their parents. We expect that to happen. And we would be outraged as a society if that were not the case. The children's welfare should always be first and foremost.

However, I'm not aware that crossing the border illegally is breaking any particular American law. So I feel that those who do, should be exempt from social services taking children. (My 2 cents, I'm not a lawyer. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)
