They might be a lot more forgiving then people are here, specially being the coach kept the kids alive in there for 9 days and didn't take any food for himself but saved it for the kids. He made a mistake, but after they were there it's 100% sure those kids wouldn't have lived with out him, so he might be looked at as a villain but also maybe a hero. Here he would be charged with out a doubt because someone always has to be blamed.. |

the simple facts remain, the coach is not off the hook regardless of how many think he's a hero or not. someone died, millions of money was spent on rescue, etc. the sign may state the rain starts july 1 but the weather obviously did not read the sign. If I were in charge of things, I certainly would not have led that group into that cave just days before July 1 and I would have checked the weather first. it's not like it's hard to get the day's forecast. |

A man died because of him. He's going to carry that guilt the rest of his life. |

Here in FL, it can rain for days and days but you see very little flooding. The reason is we have lots of sand and that sand lets the water soak into the ground very fast, added to that lots of rivers and lakes ect. Meaning it has to rain a literal shit load like a hurricane or something to get any serious flooding here in FL. Due to this, I never really understood how fast you can get flash flooding in places out west in what I'd consider a small amount of rain. The reason being, it's a lot of rock out there so the water can't soak in fast and builds up quickly. It could have been something as simple as that, lack of experience/knowledge. Perhaps they didn't understand the actual danger due to not living in that area. Then again, maybe he's just a dumb local and ignored the danger as well. |

and yes, dumb things happen some times, i get that. nevertheless, the coach is far from off the hook, regardless of the sign or his not knowing what a flash flood is or how many people think he is a zero or a hero. |

I'd actually go-to Thailand to take that cave tour , during the non rainy season :) |

IF there is somebody to blame than the ones who knew about the danger and let the cave open. it would cost 10 dollars of dynamite to close the entry or even a door would do. instead of securing the cave so that no one can enter, a warning sign has been placed that the cave is dangerous from July on. but even July still has a lot of leeway and those who live in the area know that the big monsoon rains usually start in august or september. https://edition.cnn.com/2018/07/10/asia/thai-soccer-coach-intl/index.html this is how the whole country thinks here and they are also thankful to all helpers from all over the world who came here and risked their life for them. i really love these people and how they handle such cases. this people live so close together and especially in the worst times they are a big family and protect each other. even when most of us are much much better educated - we can learn a lot from them. |
