Just for the record.. you can still do hot shot & expediting with out a CDL. Hot shot is using a normal pickup truck pulling a trailer with the combined weight under 26k lbs. Expediting uses vans like sprinter vans.

Obama created the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and on July 1st, 2016 it went into effect.

In 2017 Trump cut funding for WIOA by 39% (it went into effect in 2018) stating that companies & cities should be paying for these programs directly not the federal government.

Unfortunately due to Trump's cuts WIOA has had to put much stricter qualifications on potential recipients.

I'm not sure if I replied in this thread before, I'm not about to check.

But weed sticks to fat. The fatter you are, the longer it stays in your system.

No body shame.

Yes, I received a near perfect score on my placement tests so I was eligible for any training. I'll be taking my certification exams for web development (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) in July.

Apparently the Careersource in Tampa was stealing money from the federal government. They were giving out bonuses to their employees and making up fake numbers. Over 50% of the staff has been fired since then.

Don't go to a school to get your CDL, go to one of the mega companies, you will get stuck driving for one anyway for your 1st year unless you have a job lined up. Also in most cases the companies that will hire you from these schools will pay you shitty your 1st year. Best to go somewhere like Prime, Maverick or maybe Tribe but avoid Swift, CSRT, CRE or KLLM.

Also, if you do get your CDL, make sure you don't plan on going back to smoking. Random tests are real and if you do get into a wreck and get tested and are positive you are fucked.

very solid :thumbsup

Tampa Bay’s two largest job placement agencies handed out $6 million in Visa and gas cards since 2014 – all paid for with public tax dollars – and a share of that money went to people who didn’t use the centers to find work and never had to account for how they spent it.

Good to hear man, getting a CDL is great for getting back on your feet and it's a good skill to have if the shit ever hits the fan, but it's a tough life if you are OTR. Glad to see you have other options, and I wish you luck... :thumbsup

Wow what a fucking shame, although I live in Pinellas during the winter so I can't say this surprises me at all. Misusing funds meant to provide unemployed people career counseling and job training is incredibly fucking low down...
