It's like in Israel, but with a slight difference. In Russia only males have to do a military service (females can do it too but with serious obstacles). So if you are man of 18-27 year old, welcome to the army, son. Actually you have a choice. You can say "fuck army" and legally exchange your military service to a prison time.

Chad (2 years men, 1 year women. Civil service available only for women )

Equatorial Guinea (2 years, selective)
Guinea (2 years, selective)
Guinea-Bissau (2 years, selective)

Israel (3 years for men, 2 years for women)[8]

Senegal (2 years, selective)

Yes I heard that Sasha liked Vlad a lot, when he got really old. He considered Putin as real patriot and saviour to Russia. Not sure about Putin's believes on Solzenicyn though. prolly it was some Public Relations bullshit.
Remember about few things though:
a) he witnessed only his first years of reign, and after he saw how Russia looked in 90s, maybe he really considered Putin gang as saviours :)
b) history will tell - next 100 years ? - how Putin will be judged by next generations. IMO such reigns are necessary sometimes to pave the road for the next changes (maybe not necessarily worse, hahah :). Same with Trump...I may understand all attacks on him etc. but he is still- an American president. So people should remember about that.

I think I am not the only person here interested in the views of people from other countries and maybe learn something what I did not know yet.

I think if WE (the normal people) start to do that then neither would hatred and ignorance accompany people on their way to the ballot box.

you are russian - i am german - our nations fight against the other when we both were not even born. we should have learned from that and I think we realized that it was leading to nothing. that´s why we should prevent it happens again by knowing about each other and respecting people who are willing to respect others too.

don´t get me wrong - I am really not a friend of russian policy and the still existing KGB behaviour - but I also see the fact that russia has been forced in this situation since WW2.

I really think we can do that better but not as enemies - so far I agree even with trump - but for very other motives.

I think he will not be judged as long as people are not able to falsificate history (what was done after WW2 in germany i.e).

I think the most improtant person of the past 100 years in russia was gorbatschow - he was not only the most realistic politician there he was also the most human.
BUT:
the west has interpreted his reason and his will for peace as weakness and russia would today be a poor, exploited peasant state if a man like putin had not come.

russia is the largest country on earth with all the raw materials available on the planet.
if it were a weak country, all these riches would have belonged to the west for a long time.

unfortunately, the west has always seen every friendly door opened as an invitation to rob. only globalisation has brought at least some to the idea that only a healthy and prosperous country can also be a customer with purchasing power.

most people have still not understood (above all, trump) how globalization works.
offsetting directly 1 to 1 is not possible here because global trade is too intertwined and only the sum under the line counts.

if this sum is negative then you have done something wrong and don't have to look for a guilty person. because no globally acting country is so stupid not to know
that a starving customer can't be a long-term customer.

and now i hear again the voices arguing that germany has such a big export surplus that it doesn't fit with this statement.

but that's not true, because germany pays back the debts it has made to get the country back on the right track and secondly you have to see that a large part of these surpluses goes to economically weaker countries to build them up as future customers.

the way the germany and the EU are going here is not only smarter but also more peaceful because our main export articles are not weapons that you can only sell when war rules.

the power of a country is not measured in the prosperity of the people.
especially not when you look from outside and try to compare it to your own country.

best example is china.
in compare to us most of them are still poor. but in their own view many things have changed in the past 10 or 15 years.

russia is about the same.
try to live in moscow with an average european income - you will not afford to pay 5000 dollar rent for a 2 bedroom condo.
on the other hand you can still survive with 200 dollar when you live in in a village in the taiga.
it is really hard to compare that because in our countries we don´t have that in this kind of monster differences. you really can´t say when someone is poor or rich in russia.

btw. the revolution have already shown that these people can stand up if it is going to be too much. and whatever happend since than it seems to be better as everything they had under the czar.

if you read a bit about the russian history you will understand that they never had it easy
and they got blocked to grow to be the power they could be all the time.
