White is white. White isn't olive, yellow, cinnamon, brown, blue or black. It's been said that if you're white with brown eyes or dark brown hair you're mixed blood. They say true whites have fair hair ( red, light brown to blonde ) and fair eyes ( green, blue, grey or red ). All caucasoid, mongloid & negroid albinos are by birth true bloods.

Whiteness is an identity, like gender.

I never understood why "white" is an option on forms asking for ethnicity. Being of European descent is an ethnic designation, something empirical, congenital.

Whiteness is how much you identify with that designation. Like how so many Americans consider themselves Irish, when they've never even been to Ireland.

Have you ever met anyone from Portugal? 60% Portuguese population nearby and they’re white. I just showed your post to a Portuguese CNA and she said, in Portuguese, “she must be from another country like Africa if she thinks we aren’t white.” ;). She suggested you visit New Bedford or Fall River and go to the Portuguese Feast and try to find someone Portuguese who isn’t white. (Many Cape Verdeans speak Portuguese as it’s similar to Creole or Creola, the language of Cabo Verde. Some identify as black but some appear white.)

French? My French teacher lived next door and was from France. Jewish, white with red hair and a college professor until retirement. She was in my nursing home and remembered me from forty years ago. Sharp at Scrabble at 96 but she died a few years ago. I still remember her teaching us Linde, Merdi, Macade, and so on.

Italians can look white or have so-called olive skin. I spent a lot of childhood in the Italian North End of Boston. Remember delicious pastries, dead rabbits hanging in delis, Genoa salami hanging next to the rabbits and houses with tons of red and gold inside and out. Dark-haired people but white skin, tinged olive.

At age nine, I saw a shirtless guy with a very, very hairy chest. I asked Mom why he had hair there as I’d never seen that in my family. To this day, very hairy men are my major turn-on, fetish and desire. Did that come from that sighting? Makes you wonder ...

Those who said all Jews are white haven’t heard of Falashas, a tribe of black folks in Africa who practice Judaism. Or Sammy Davis junior 😉
