You guys are going off the deep end in my opinion. The founding fathers of the United States were some of the most progressive, intelligent, and science oriented men of their time. I don't see you guys attacking all the other countries in Europe because they were doing the same exact thing (matter of fact, the Dutch were the premiere slave traders for the world). Or attacking the Egyptians for thousands of years of enslaving Jews. Look, forget about the prevailing time period and the bad things that took place. There were also some GREAT things that took place. And one of those great things was a vision of the people in control of govt., not the other way around. Why on Earth would you guys belittle that and pretend that because it's 2018 that suddenly enduring principles of freedom and liberty are suddenly void? |
FTR: VRPdommy does not speak for me. I disagree with most all of his views and posted as such. My views are my own.
Please don't lump me into the "you guys" when replying to him. TIA! |

I just totally disagree that we should treat the Constitution like it means nothing. It is the one of the most progressive and forward thinking documents in the world. Yes, the founding fathers also had the wisdom to put processes in place to CHANGE the Constitution via the will of the people as times changed. And we did just that. And probably will again in the future. But to say the basic principles are null and void because it's "old" is ridiculous. |
