We hand out firearms to anyone who wants them with only a basic background check. This was a US Marine who had mental health issues, and nothing was done to take away his firearms or prevent him from having access to firearms. We need better firearm laws.

We watch way too much TV and movies and we honestly believe that a good guy armed with a handgun can take on and dispatch dozens of bad guys without getting hurt. It just doesn't work that way.

MILITARY ESCORT

let that sink in...the police was not enough

US blacks have the same homicide rate as Botswanans and Rwandans. But but military escorts. Let that sink in...

Well reading that statement... where it came from was "a man at the front door"

by the way. Not one US news outlet was reporting ANYTHING about the shooter. The first outlet I seen it on was Paul's link SKY News.

Sky reported that the shooter was a middle easterner.

Yup, step in the right direction if you ask me. I was super happy CNN did that. One analyst they had on slipped up and said the name, but all day they have stuck to their guns. I didn't watch any other stations today but if you say they all followed suit, that is a step in the right direction.

Although I don't know what news outlet it was that asked the father of the victim if ''there are too many guns out there'' while I do think it's a topic worth debating, it was vile that she did so while he was talking to the press to announce that his son was just murdered.

Paul added that description to his quote from the article making it seem as if it was legitimate reported news in the article he referenced, which it wasn't.

Paul also changed the wording of the tweet you referenced to state that the shooter was indeed Middle Eastern, not "middle eastern looking"

"The suspect has been described as a Middle Eastern man in his early 20s wearing all black clothing and with a beard."

That description was actually in that article that Paul posted. I read it. The article is changed now.. but it did have that info, and it was exactly the way Paul pasted it.

Right... because too many guns out there is a fucking given.

Well you can certainly have that debate, but I don't think the time to push the gun control agenda on a grieving father is minutes after he learned his son is dead. Time and a place for everything right?

I do agree with what you are saying. However, this is getting old and simply doing things the way have been doing them, is not fucking working.

People who want to see a change in the amount of murders we are having, are not the ones doing the murdering. :2 cents:

Yup, I can't argue that. Personally I thought the Media needed to stop reporting and giving the shooters ''glory''. I always thought it was a bit disgusting that they reported on the killer etc.. to increase views / profit, while pushing Gun Control debates at the same time.

Now I believe they really turned a corner and I think they can really say they are doing their part.

It seems clear that with quite a few of the shootings in the last year or so that there have been many red flags. It really is time to talk about confiscation for people who have had the police called on them, some type of program where they have to earn their guns back through help or whatever the hell is needed. You get DUI you lose your license, you shoot a gun off in an argument at home and get to keep it?

Oh interesting!

They didn't post anywhere in the story that they made a retraction or edit. That's tacky

Rochard 11-08-2018 03:35 PM

There is a very simple solution to this. Gun nutters will go crazy over this and argue this with me. Keep in mind I have firearms myself.

We need more gun laws. There are two main reasons we have such attacks - anger issues, or mental health issues. We need gun laws that will work deal with these two items.

Anger Issues: If someone has any kind of interaction with the police where violence is involved, they need to have their firearms taken away from them. If you assaulted someone, hit your spouse, threatened someone, resisted arrest.... Your firearms are taken away from you, and you loose the right to purchase or own more firearms. This would be for a set period of time PLUS you should be required to take anger management classes.

Mental Heal Issues: If you have mental health issues, PTSD, etc, you should lose the right to own firearms.

We also need to go a step further and say that if someone has any of these two issues, they are not allowed to live in a house where firearms are stored.

This is common sense. Yet somehow it's not happening.

This is just complete hypocrisy btw. I know its a video game, but cmon. CNN, shouldn't have let this fly. We as a nation should be getting serious about this and we are not. None of us are. The only people who are getting serious is victims. We all bitch and complain one way or the other.. but then a few weeks after a mass shooting everyone forgets. It is now too the point that we are all desensitized. A few choice words are said, then its back to business.

This might seem like an attack on CNN, but its really just a reflection of who we ALL are as a society.

Should someone who has a mental illness own a gun? No. I would think that is something that we all could agree on.

Do we really need assault weapons or large capacity magazines in the hands of your neighbor? No.

This is not 1776 anymore.

I don't know why any of this is even up for argument.

Just like illegal immigration, these problems have gone on for too fucking long to where they created another problem that we cannot easily get out of. Too many guns now. Too many illegals. Guns continue to flow into the market, and Americans continue to hire illegals.

Meanwhile our owners, feed us bullshit everyday on the left and the right and most of us, fall in line with that bullshit.. they keep us arguing and our owners keep making money.

Until we all realize that, we are fucked.

Fucked.
