I'm not sure what you mean here. I am simply pointing out why little has been done about illegals for a long time. They provide cheap labor. That is why.

At some point autmation will take over. there are fewer and fewer individually owned farms every year as big companies buy them up. That said, farmers (or those in the other areas) have no interest in raising wages. They don't care if it will help in other ways, it hurts their bottom line. They could pay a lot more and hire Americans to do the job, but the amount they would have to pay would either destroy their profit or force them to raise their prices to a point where they can't compete.

Legal immigrants don't want these jobs. I am talking about working in canneries, chicken farms, food processing plants. These are crappy jobs that pay very little. If you are here legally there are many better options. Which would you rather do, work your ass off in a food processing plant where you get filthy and at the end of the day are exhausted and for this you get minimum wage or you can work the fry machine at McDonalds and make the same amount?

Illegals provide cheap labor. You don't have to pay them any benefits or unemployment. You don't have to follow the rules and laws because they will never report you and in some cases you can even pay less than minimum wage if you wanted. Legal immigrants have more options and, like most Americans, would only do these jobs as a last resort.

Do righty's typically justify themselves by saying "but the lefties did it too"? Or do you guys ever take responsibility for your actions? For a group that likes to shit on everything the other side does, you guys sure like to do the same exact things and validate it by saying "the other side did it too".

I saw an article recently that stated 20 years ago about 14% of people with opposing political view were evil. Today that number is up to 40%. I believe our leadership in general has fostered this Us vs. Them mentality and it has bled down to the general population. Right now our leadership doesn't seem to have any interest whatsoever in trying to fix this and bring the nation together. Instead they play into it. Until things change at the top (on both sides) the odds are it is only going to get worse.

All solved by building a Wall so the numbers are cut down and the people who do get through can do those jobs.

My point is that presently too many get through and not enough is done to enforce the laws of the land. Education, healthcare, driving licenses would be great places to find illegals. Drivers, Children or sick people who can't present valid ID get deported. Then the only places the illegals can work are in the worse jobs that provide temporary accommodation. In the EU legal migration has done this, so it can be done in America.

Of course wages will force prices up, but at the same time people will earn more. Over the last 20 years we have seen a slow erosion of salaries for 80% of the working population. That alone effects your income and the income of every one selling to the 80%. In the same time we see to top 10% increasing their income and the top 1% increasing by an obscene amount. That has to stop.

The good side is it will reduce unemployment in real numbers, not the Government fake numbers, providing jobs and a future for all the people who don't have one. Reducing crime would be a major win, reducing taxes another.

God help us when automation continues to bite and jobs in fast food, coffee shops, buying online increases and all jobs are lost at the lower end. However jobs like Plumbing and house building will be taken up by citizens of a country and not illegals because they do it cheaper.

I saw the other day on the news they talked about how as many as 80% of the illegals living in the US right now came here legally to begin with. They have passports and got entrance visas as if they were coming here for a vacation like millions of people do every year only they never left. A wall is never going to stop them.

Instead of wasting billions on a wall, I would rather see us use that money to go after the people that are facilitating those who live here. As you say, there are plenty of ways to find illegals. If we cut off their ability to get welfare (birthright citizenship) and their ability to get a job, they will stop coming here, no wall needed.

A Wall is only capable of stopping some illegals, only a fool thinks it was meant to stop all. Other measures are called for and the target areas have to be employers of illegals and the fines increased up to prison and paying for the cost of finding and deporting them. Housing is another area where it's possible to crack down on landlords. Then driving licenses. No job, home or car will stop a lot. But so far no President has offered that.
