As far as I'm aware no apps have been removed.. ie: they all complied with requests. Under the 5eyes agreement, Australia would be compelled to share that information with America. ;)

The problem with Huawei is basically that 5g is new tech, new challenges are meet daily and software is rewritten most of its going to need weekly if not monthly updates. 5g networks are likely to become critical infrastructure, I'm glad our politicians have woken up to this, but they need to follow it up with the investment dollar, and its just not happening so the West is fucked.

Plan at the moment seems to be.. let China get 5 years ahead of everyone else, then we'll see what we will do.

They do not need new OS - they can use Android since it's free.

What they need is their own app store, their email client and browser and I think they have it all covered...

So they'll just put their store app in their android build and will sell phones like that... And that's about it...

This just shows how fast China has climbed up the ladder. By selling so much stuff to so many countries that buy back less from them. If major countries decided to take the road you suggest, China would sink within months.

Remember China is a dictatorship country with only one party allowed to stand, it has a terrible reputation for human rights, walks over the rights of citizens, high rate of executions, murders political opponents, etc. But it makes cheap stuff so we ignore all that.
