My brother is super far-right, and he jumps to conclusions a lot, believes all news he reads on Facebook, etc, and he would always surprise the hell out of me when he would do this. I'm no psyche expert but essentially Confirmation Bias is a shortcut our brains take. Some papers I read on it think it is even the basis for prejudice.
