It’s not immediate and we have already experienced a few speed bumps. December was really stressful for me. He has full custody of his 14 year old daughter and she already considers me her stepmom but my kids are not thrilled about this at all. My oldest is okay with it the other 2 definitely not. Whatever though they are all adults. It’s me being inserted into his life not the other way around so it’s much more difficult for me than him even though I think I’m a quite adaptable person. I told him I’m not planning a wedding for a year and even then is it really necessary it might be better off not being married for tax purposes I dunno. He is paying for everything so far though and I’m banking all my income so I’m okay with this arrangement.

Your kids are all adults (but really, 18yo or actual adults?)?!?! Perhaps the younger ones haven't dealt with all of their issues. Which are actually partially your issues. But it is natural. They might see you parenting better with his daughter (than you ever did with them?) and are jealous. Hey, second, third and fourth times around are much easier! I know I do way better with my grandson then I did with my son. Parenting is hard, but it gets easier.

As for wedding and taxes. You can file married but filing separately. Not sure, but I think you actually still get at least a small amount of credit for having been married (damn you Jews!).

I would suggest that you insist on paying some things so he doesn't exert an upper hand?!?! He sounds like he is in an industry where the bull wins and he is knocking it out of the box (Rick). So it would actually behoove you to put your strengths out there as well. Obviously, one of them is to make money and do it well.
