I feel like an asshole for laughing in a thread about a serious illness but some of y'all are funny as fuck
the virus hit Jamaica as well but the outcome has been amazing: traditionally due to colonial situation of white/Black/Chinese peeps, Black peeps and Chinese peeps have some internalized colonial dislike yet to dissolve. it takes time and yet no one here is bashing Chinese peeps. flights are restricted but zero anti-Asian hate on the ground. fucking incredible Dengue is a way worse issue here, over the past year a ton of people have died getting better since they are mosquito spraying constantly but the smoke is toxic to cats and kills bees, which will have a massive impact on the farmers who are the real economy outside of tourism but what to do? people are dying from this. I got it a while back but obviously survived. a woman I work with got it too and we both agreed, it's like getting hit by a truck. Zika (got that too, was just like a bad cold) is nothing compared to that but really cool to see this country breaking the colonial mentality. this nation is an entirely different place than it was 15 years ago. all it took was Seaga to die. not trying to make this political, just amazing what can happen when a nation has an opportunity to change, for the better so proud of how JA is handling this wish everyone health, pass by my place if in need of pedialtyle popsicles, guineps and tofu |

https://edition.cnn.com/asia/live-ne...hnk/index.html ""Getting groceries delivered through Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce giant, has become a different experience in China since the coronavirus outbreak. After a Saturday order on Alibaba's grocery site, a message popped up on my phone: "Hi, I am your deliveryman and my body temperature is normal today. Wearing a mask, I am on my way to deliver your order. Please be ready to receive it at the designated time." Many residential compounds in major cities across China, including the capital, are now strictly limiting access to residents only. Delivery people are no longer allowed in. Recipients usually have to go outside to pick up their orders. In my compound, delivery people have taken to pushing grocery bags through the gap between a now-locked side gate and the floor."" |

This being said, the issue the rest of the world is already beginning to see is supply chain. Just about every fucking object in front of me that I pick up has "made in china" written on it somewhere. We have a dental clinic and are about to open another one. All the medical warehouses are out of medical masks and we don't have a single case of the virus in our country. Starting to run out of gloves too. I managed to order some online but the price was 2-3x normal. All of this shit is made in china... |

That's great news because that most likely will not happen. It will probably just be a blip on the economic radar when looking back in the yr 2020. |
