It depends as I am using different machines with of course different layouts and languages, plus often switching the languages.
But normally I can type by looking only at the screen even in dark (no backlit keyboard), except if I have to use special character that otherwise rarely using. And the time when I knew the ascii codes from the top of my head just long time gone. |
No, but I can take a poo without visiting the bathroom though... :2 cents:

I can and have for most of my life. Oddly enough, I primarily use both pointer fingers, and my middle finger on my right hand. I use my left pinky for shift and such. I typed this way prior to taking the classes in school where they show you how your hands should sit on the keyboard.
Generally speaking, I can type faster than most people I've competed with in the past even though my typing probably looks incredibly strange lol. |

Typing without looking seems like a pretty normal skill people have nowadays to be honest

Its a blessing to not have to look at that damn keyboard anymore. this is not the case when the lights are off. It seems to fuck with my mind when everything around me turns dark.

I took a typing class in high school and it served me well. Even after 35 years I'm still able to do about 60 WPM without looking and probably 98% + accuracy.

Fiddy People able to wipe without looking !!!

I learned to type in the 8th grade without letters or numerals on the keyboard. At the time I thought how useless is this particular skill. Who knew?

If you work a lot with computer and have to type a lot, you will develop this habit sooner or later. I believe, it is the potential of your visual memory. Some people do it better and some people slower but everyone will inevitably develop this skill. I was attending computer classes years ago in worldpostalcode.com/united-states/california/san-francisco. And people had this ability to type without looking at the keyboard even then.

Yeah, I just did touch typing doing this.
I watch the screen though... not my keyboard. Still, the best way to "write" anything is through dictation. You can "write" 20,000 to 50,000 words per day without breaking a sweat |
