For you, with speaking Spanish, your choices are:

1. Colombia - Love Bogota, love Medellin. And there's way more than that. Depends if you like the city, what weather you like - so many choices.
2. Panama would be the other end of the spectrum. They use the dollar, huge US influence. Easy enough to get citizenship thru investment. Population 4 million - very manageable.
3. In between those two choices is Ecuador. They use the dollar but don't like Americans. I really like Guayaquil!

I wouldn't recommend Costa Rica...

and errr...Spain

Spain is great. Of course Barcelona is fantastic but I love Zaragoza. Not sure how easy it is for a family to legally emigrate to Spain/EU...

BaldBastard 03-27-2020 06:16 AM

Every country is going to be a different place after this pandemic some will be affected much more than others.

It's very easy if you use company which is specialized for visa things.

Berlin!

Not Germany, just Berlin. Berlin is not like the rest of Germany at all.

Berlin is dirty, edgy, artsy, and open minded. It's where you can party for days on end.

Yes, there's brothels there. Yes, there's porn there. Yes, there's sex parties there. Yes, there's dark rooms in the clubs there where people fuck. Yes, there's hedonist clubs there.

That's Berlin and that's awesome!

Too many people who decide after a 2 week vacation with beach, drinks and eating out every day "this is a place where I want to stay forever"

and then they move and then reality hits them

this is the best advice.

Seen this a million times myself. I live about 80% of the year in Cancun Mexico. We have a house here.

If you can not earn money online or have a good retirement dont leave.

with the amazing exchange right now for Cancun, to be my neighbor renting is about 1500 to 2500 dollars on average. We live in an upscale area and everything is within walking distance. We are 1.4 KM to the water as the crow flies. 20 to 25 min driving.

Schools are not cheap if you need them.

Cars are basically the same price. Public transportation is here but it sucks and a taxi gets expensive. ( You can import your car )
Gas is almost 2 times the price.
Insurance is less than 1/3

Maybe you see a pattern there.

A simple thing that bothers people and this is just an example is. I go shopping. I want to buy grape jam. They dont carry that. Maybe one time in every 6 months I can get grape jelly but its twice the price. So my choice is Strawberry or Black berry.

Its the little things that add up against you.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

There is no thing like a "safe area". All areas are safe equally (we have no street gangs shooting each other). There is a different price scale: as close you are to the center of the city (Kremlin) as higher the price will be. These are the prices (they are in rubles. $1 USD is about 80 rubles, so you can calculate): https://translate.google.com/transla...yu-kvartiru%2F - about $1000 USD a month for a two room apartments. Not a lot IMHO (crisis).

Interesting - it wouldn't allow me to click any of the options, but would a gringo get that price?

In fact they are not. My city is much safer than yours. Much more corrupted? Yes of course. But not a gangsta place for sure.

Rochard 03-31-2020 09:26 PM

Our goal was to move to Hawaii. We have a small condo in Honolulu which we've been renting out. The kid was going to go off to college and we were going to rent out the house here and move to Hawaii. Kid went off to college and... came back a few months later. (She's enrolled to a local college and staying at home with us, which is fine.)

I know it's not "expat" but... might as well be. And much safer.

We will end up with a house either on Hawaii or Kauai. We love both islands. But that’s not expating. It would be for vacations.

I will agree. The same I can say about NYC and LA. Many loves them. But for a Russian they are not good as well. Been there, know what I'm talking about. Hope you've been to Moscow to have your personal opinion.

Moscow is very huge. It's the largest city in the whole West World. It's larger than some countries. And here everyone can find just everything... Want a safe and silent old life? It's here. Want night clubs, restaurants and pubs? They are here. Want supper-duper shows and concerts? They are here - even Metallica will sing for you in Russian (for real). Are you a gun shooter? The World's largest shooting range is here. Want sex? Pay $100 for the entrance and have 10's (literally) of super hot girls (not hookers - you pays $100 for shows, security guards and the internal infrastructure) for a night if your health can handle so many ;) Need a good medicine? It's here and it will cost you 10 times less than in the USA. There is such a thing like a medical tourism. Don't want high taxes? Here you will pay 6% officially. IRL you won't pay anything (there is no prison time for tax evasion, so people just don't pay taxes ;)). Wanna good food (you see there are not many fat people in Russia)? We have it. Course if you want KFC, MacDonald's or other shit, you will find it here as well. Man, even a California sushi roll is much better in Moscow than in LA (I've tried 'em here and there). Even Japan people say we do them better than... in Japan.

And Moscow never sleeps. Watch this video (I insist ;)). It's a Russian White House:

I went from Vegas to the Netherlands... Rotterdam actually... I wouldn't move to Amsterdam unless you are looking for expensive, overpriced homes in the city centre and want to be bombarded with stoned tourists from Italy and the UK.

Rotterdam and Den Hague are much less touristy and affordable. As Vegas is about half of what LA is, the same is true of Rotterdam and Den Hague. I'd probably recommend Den Hague over Rotterdam just because it survived WW2 very well. There's a more old-world feeling to Den Hague. Rotterdam is all modern architecture since the Nazis firebombed the entire city.

As for ease of living... everyone here speaks English, and they do so freely so its easy to acclimate.

Public transportation is excellent. You can easily get around using it. With that, a bike, your legs and Uber you don't need a car.

Health insurance is 1/10 of the price in the US. I went from $1400 a month to $160 a month.

And one thing no one is discussing... getting residency status is not easy in any non-third world country. I looked into Italy first... its almost impossible to get a permanent residency permit. The Italian govt made it difficult to stop the immigrants being dropped off on their shores.

Its easy to get residency for 7 yrs here as an American through DAFT. With a lawyer its about a $10,000 investment, without $7500

Here's a step-by-step guide...

The funny thing is that you will get the residency status just easily if you are some "refugee" from a 3rd-world country like Nigeria or Yemen. If you are from America, the Ukraine or Belorussia... um, you won't (7 years is a long time...) This is how almost all the old European county laws work today.

All true, except that Moscow is not a part of "West World," like you said.

And on top of that it's a gigantic city that will suck you dry, like all big cities anywhere. But that's just my personal taste.

Why isn't it a part of West World? I didn't get that shit. Are you on drugs? Over 40% of Europe belongs to Russia. Show me a bigger European country. Moscow is located in Europe. It's not Asia. China and Australia are Eats. A part of Russia like Vladivostok is East too. But Moscow is West. Look at the map already.

This is a little geographical lesson to you my young friend. Now about the other point. Everyone knows how much investments Russia has made to the Western culture, technologies etc. Need examples? Can you find Poland somewhere in the Western history? In its ass maybe...

No. The prices are same here for everyone. Too many people from around the world live in Moscow (it's like a Babylon). If you enter some Irish pub at the night, the people there will be speaking Irish. That's because most of visitors there are from Ireland. Do you think the pub owner is so stupid to serve them booze for a higher price? If you go to a club where you have to pay for the entrance, the price is standard and written on its site. Nobody can charge you more (you may not pass their face control, but it's a different story). Even if you are going to brothel, the prices for all girls are also on the site. There are no tips etc. The same is about taxis etc. You pay as it was calculates and suggested by Uber, Yandex taxi etc. No tips. And it doesn't matter which language you speak and what's your skin color.

The only thing: basic knowledge of the Russian language needed...

I've seen a lot of them here in pubs (and you can see too, when you'll visit Moscow). They speak like English... but it's a very weird English. I was working with Irish and Scottish people when I was young. I know how they speak. A cup of tea is a coop of teaa. A bus is a boos. Russia is Rooshaa. Etc...
