True is that its safer to say that its impossible to stop this shit without destroying normal life (which I dont think its your goal?).
So the sooner people will get used to this shit, and get back to normal, the better.
Leave it to the individuals how they want to cope with this shit and protect themselves.

Lockdown like this did Sri Lanka for example. They also had airport closed for 10 months (soon going to be open)

So what? With airport closed, and strict lockdown for 10 weeks march-may, they "suddenly" had "outbreak" in October, that is going until now...

Yet, at least they are wise enough to not even think about insanity like UK, or AUS do.

Abso-fucking-lutly.

back to 6 days a week 10 hour days after just 6 weeks.

It's insane, almost like a virus will spread while there are people mixing in infrastructure, supply chains, and crazy shit like that, in a season that might just maybe possibly be a known perfect time for respiratory viruses to circulate. Good job it was suppressed and pushed forward all summer, and a bunch of people lost their livelihoods, businesses, sanity, and faith in the medical community.

Fucking amazing job by the flailing 'do something, anything' politicians catering to the screaming virtue signalling 1-death-is-too-many crowd. Senses of proportion are so 5,000 BC - 2019.

But nope. Carry on like mindless children hamsters running endlessly to keep the pennies coming in. Sick (pun intended).

Unless you shut literally everything, how does that work? How do you get food picked/prepared/delivered/stocked in stores that need staff from security to cleaners to shelf stackers to checkout operators to trolley collectors, and the people who need to go and dig the electricity up and pipe it around, or the drivers who need vehicles serviced, fuelled, and the infrastructure around fuel itself? And the phone companies? water companies? ISPs/internet infrastructure?

And that's just a tiny, tiny, tiny piece of the ecosystem.

It isn't the small percentage of people who yes, do ignore ALL rules, anymore than there is carnage on the roads because a minority are drunk, or drugged, or women (j/k!!), or
ignore speed limits. It's because there are millions here, and tens of millions in the US, who are mixing because infrastructure and supply chains are vital... look at new orleans I think it was a few years back? That was 4 days without infrastructure iirc, though I may be well off on that. 4 -6 weeks of that? Hmmm.

Blaming the tiny % who don't stick to social distancing is laughable.

Apparently 88% of the US is now wearing masks, but numbers are higher then ever. Masks just don't work.

but is it like the UK, wearing them when nearer people or in buildings, because this doesnīt work...

for us in Spain, we have to wear them at all times, all times when outside our homes, our levels are nearly zero here on the orihuela coast, again :2 cents:

Fucking spot on Jel.

Hospitals in danger of being overwhelmed they say. Well what the fuck were they doing all summer then, when they should have been preparing? Sitting on their arses not treating anyone?

I think the issue is the false sense of security it gives, and people thinking it's ok to invade your personal space because 'masks'. As for wearing them outside in the open air if not in crowded areas (eg a concert, football match, etc) - just fucking LOL. They have their benefits in certain situations for absolute sure, but have become a talisman and likely do more harm (with people thinking it's some kind of 100% protection, and ignoring more substantive measures) as is.

Any smoker here has done the let out a puff of smoke just normally, with mask in place... not only does it come out the sides, therefore not directed downwards where your nostrils naturally aim (evolutionary feature?), there's hardly any difference whatsover in the smoke expelled. Now do that for something thousands and thousands of times smaller than smoke particles.

I'm not anti-mask per se, just rebuff the idea they are the magic bullet force field most think they are, whereby they still crowd into other people's personal space, whereas probably a better tactic would be to stay the fuck out of people's personal space in the first instance.

We have to wear them all the time in Poland too including outdoors, and we do, and we have had to for months and it has had zero effect.

yeah it's mad. No doubt hospitals are being overwhelmed here, just like every single fucking year in living memory, so why it was seen as a good idea to suppress and push it into winter is beyond me. Well, aside from the fact screaming media who would sell their kids' soul for extra clicks and therefore revenue now run the show. Idiocracy IS here, but not in the way most people think.

That's because, being Polish, you were all wearing your masks backwards. Duh.

Ahh good old fashioned Polish jokes! Remember those?

How many Polish people does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None - all the money went to buying useless masks.

:pimp

Itīs strange to hear this, as our area, the Valencian community, a huge 200 mile stretch of area, the orihuela coast, we have near on zero covid, have had since the beginning of the lockdown back in March 2020...We wore masks, self distance, use hand wash and have everything cleaned after use, even knives and forks are in packs, we feel proud we have listened and followed the rules and have a clean environment.

When the gates opened in July, many Brits and Germans bought the virus over here, we had a huge rise, the hospital was overwhelmed but once the gates were closed again, back in November, weīve sorted our community back out, we donīt go out much, many donīt. Parks, the towns and beaches are quiet, but at least, when we go to any, or out for a meal, we feel safe.

Other than wearing masks and using the wash, keeping distant, we do feel lifeīs pretty normal! I hope the virus reduces in your country too :Oh crap
