She pondered a bit and then, with utmost seriousness stated:" That is unusual, in America when you cross a river you are in another state" . :1orglaugh

Since then I am sensitive to such "Americana" :2 cents:

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh Kids! In 1984, a younger girl I was working with asked me if I knew Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings.

I think we have two rivers that do that... the mississippi and the ohio... that you end up in another state when crossed.... Maybe more, I just woke up and not awake yet. Rio Grande will take you to Mexico....

Wait, I think the colorado may have spots...

Dude, who the fuck do you think you are talking to? I was an Easyrider type as was my buddy as we rode across this country, via I-10 from LA to Daytona Beach and back in 1987.

We experienced jail/court, being pulled over by a freaked out constable, and being taken in by strangers. Even the experience in court made for a great story and only delayed our travel by a day.

You obviously do not know shit about the South and get your impressions of people and places by what Hollywood tells you. Your ignorance is showing or do you think I was treated differently because I am too bad-ass for a redneck to cross my path?

What year was that. Traveling by motorcycle you stop in every town that has a gas station. It was pretty obvious we weren't from around there.

I never felt any hostility going back to my first excursions to the south in the early 80s.

I figured Hollywood fucked them like they did bikers.

I have many stories of southern hospitality from all over the south.

Early through mid 90's for me. A bunch of us had brightly colored hair and piercings and tattoos and clothing which, for the time period, were not commonplace. So I'm sure that was a factor. I mean, I wouldn't have moved to Georgia, and been driving all over the South, even for a short time, if I had not experienced amazing awesome Southern hospitality as well.

I lived in Tennessee, and Florida... Where it's not Mississippi... I have to disagree.... Deliverance is real... There are people like that in all over the south.

I love how you can say one thing and everyone assumes it's "ALL" people you are talking about... no, just like everything... there are some extremists.

Maybe you have been fortunate enough NOT to experience this part of the south.... but don't think that because you have not lived it... it does not exist. :winkwink:

For example... I have been lost in Watts and South Central, on a blue motorcycle, red and white nike sneakers... back in the day where blue or red could get you killed.... remember those days in LA? I never had any trouble or issues... does that mean that those are safe areas where everyone is hospitable?

Next time in Tennessee, try going to some of the remote mountain communities. Mountain folk don't take to strangers too well. :winkwink:

What about "The West Memphis Three". 3 white teens arrested and tried for satanic ritual murders.... Very famous case... It seems, from the documentary, they were railroaded for being different. Just saying...
