i get on skype when someone needs to live chat - which is rare in adult. its popular in the mainstream world because no one wants a 'paper' trail and a lot of people out in mainstream are scamming. i want everything written down in email. my contact form - which is right next to my skype id - works fine but was ignored. how can i work with someone like that? :1orglaugh # |

I'd probably pick the quicker communication as well if given the option. At least what you THINK would be quicker. I prefer phones and unfortunately, a lot of people working over the net ie programmers, designers etc usually don't. |

By all rights, they should then send that back to the client to get confirmation as to what all was agreed upon. And this goes back and forth like that until both are in agreement. If the client can take the time to write an email explaining what they want that saves some time on the front end. Plus, doing calls with you lead to something other than a well defined project. There may be some satisfaction but there is no project definition in the end ;p . |

A phone call is 100% the worst way to discuss a project with a developer. |

Over a half year ago. Asking if he´s available and explained a little bit. Just as initial contact. I found someone else a while later.... And of course, a real task list with all info I always send via mail, so the developer has a real overview of every detail what needs to be done. :upsidedow |
Well, in plsureking defense, skype do have tendency to be unreliable and not passing messages, which is one of more reason why skype sucks . And another thing, even if other party do receive message, he can be simply overwhelmed and skype does not really solve good when you are bombarded with messages.

My salaried programmer and I do mostly communicate via email but I think after 2 years of working together he understands my fucked up language. When I feel something is getting lost, we definitely set up a phone meeting and then he adds things to our Trello board to keep track of what we are doing. That works really well for us. He also sends me an invoice each month showing me what he did with his paid time. If all programmers/coders had the work ethic of you both...the world would be a much better place =) Quote:
I'd totally bone you for free. |

Unbelievable! You phone sex operators are worse than drug dealers to us sex addicts. The first five minutes would be free but just as I was approaching the fiery nut volcano I would hear a click and an automated voice saying "Press '3' for another five minutes with Mistress XXX for only $1199 per minute!" I know your game girl. :winkwink: |

I don't work for anyone else, besides, the vast majority of you couldn't afford me.
See, the problem with most people is you want to hire 3rd world developers on the cheap and expect them to code mountains, then act surprised and disappointed when you didn't get what you wanted. People who pick up "coders for hire" operate much like our wonderful government... accept the cheapest bidder then blame everyone else when the results aren't up to par. Here's a thought, stop being cheap asses and hire a full-time developer with a real salary, benefits, etc... PS. unemployed developers are generally unemployed for a reason. |
No no. Its not just you - that is how we operate....we are basically Apple phones :D

i bet you were paying less then $100/hr. werent ya?
you get what you pay for, and those of us with billable skills arent cheap, are usually grumpy and jaded and can afford to be picky with what we work on. me, i aint a fucking whiny bitch though and ill communicate with my clients via whatever method they prefer, after all they are paying for my time. never hire a coder for a project that wants to bill you per hour(unless they are on your payroll of course). get a well made spec sheet to them and get a finite price, anything that gets added, gets a price tag attached to it and added to an invoice. hourly wage to coders is a good way to get ripped off, they are incentivized to take longer and overbill. |
This is well put
