Ditto that.

I suppose, maybe part of that is that adult biz was different then. The ratio of independent pay site owners to affiliates had a higher percentage of indie pay sites - hence, more discussion was about practical biz stuff.

Good to hear man :)

Out of adult, running a mainstream payments company, more work than adult, but much safer...

Man, opening up GFY which I had not really monitored in years, brings back memories, as I used to live and breath on here...miss it and the old crowd very much.

March of 2006 is when the consolidation started...when bandwidth pricing became low enough for the free tube sites to start gaining traction, went downhill for many after that.

People are nostalgic about a time where anyone with no technical knowledge could build a mediocre website with a few photos and some lines of text and start getting free traffic from google, or submit low quality "galleries" with a handful of photos or 15 second video clips and get free traffic from tgps/mgps.

I think rather than be angry that low-skilled individuals can make a disproportionately large amount of money for a small amount of work, they should be grateful that such an opportunity existed for as long as it did :thumbsup

A lot of people are making more money than ever in adult, it's just not the same people and it's not as easy, but remember the time period you are yearning for was pre-facebook, pre-netflix, and pre-iphone. It's a totally different world and that's not Pornhub's fault.

Who's "angry"?

I think that some adult webmasters and creators (myself included) are lamenting the days when more posts had meaningful practical information in them, than not.

It was also the early day "programmers turned pornographers" who messed up the adult billing ecosphere with their scammy credit card rebill tricks.

Evolution and natural selection certainly applies to the adult biz, but just as with nature, some of us miss the "dinosaurs".

It's good to see so many double-decade(ish) players still here though.

:)

^^ what he said

There's barely any other industry where I would have had the chance to make it as far as I did without actual knowledge about what I was doing :1orglaugh

But rest assured: after almost 20 years in total I have figured it out. :thumbsup

In retrospect, we were all pretty innovative back then. I'm glad GFY never upgraded away from the good old "forum" style.

I always come back here reminiscing about the good old fun days.

Where did you go after CCBill? Went mainstream corporate?

SekobA 11-20-2021 02:39 PM

13+ here.Seems some old members gone

Yep, went with 100% mainstream. Different animal.

You have to get much more creative marketingwise and have a honed in product, you can't just be clever on a message board day and night, despite how fun that is...

However, less risk on the banking side.
