Unless you offered to pay for his funeral expenses, I don't see why you would be surprised that she had him cremated. Funerals cost, and it's not like a lot of people can afford it without doing GoFundMe's or asking their family to chip in.

Children, regardless of their parents' sins shouldn't grow up hating their parents, especially not if it's something like cheating (unfortunately, it happens) so I do believe that she made the right decision.

Regardless of why she's overweight (financial stress, easily tempted when it comes to food, depressed, etc), it still doesn't give you the right to say that things would have been different if she weren't overweight. She still could have fallen for the same man, and she still could have had the same temptations that would have led her to the same fate.

Some people gain weight easier than others, and some people are on medications that cause them to gain weight, and more times often than not, it's easy to fall down the rabbit hole, and when you see that your own family -- your own brother thinks that you're some lazy pig... why, or how could you have any drive to change something, or to look for help?

Make people feel better, and bigger about themselves. Compliment them, and help them grow their self confidence. Don't point out the obvious, and think that you're somehow above them. You're not helping yourself, nor them. Anyone can be an asshole.

Tough love is a good thing when it comes to serious situations in life, but telling someone that they're overweight, and being condescending isn't helping shit. It will drive a wedge between you and the person, and the situation will still remain the same.
